Happened fast. Black guys running south, at least four of them, shooters went west. My friend saw shooters in black clothes. The guys running south had guns too… Felt gang-like.

I grew up White in Detroit and the problems there are the worst in the country. I can attest to the fact that the Great Society programs and the War on Poverty are above all else the primary causes of the decay of these communities. And I LIKE government cheese.
I’ll say it again, racists are always the best evidence against their own case, you know with the whole supremacy thing and all.
I’m curious how many of these posts the self righteous enlightened among us consider to be ‘racist’. Your typical PC liberal finds any comment that casts blacks in an unflattering light to be racist, if the statement is true or not.

A counterpoint to the spammer above: Remember Bosnia? How about My Lai? Atrocities are committed by soldiers of all kinds. Take someone out of the bounds of normal civilization, (Meaning a place where you have to be nice to your neighbors) and everyone starts getting really mean, really fast.
This is basically no different than Chavs beating the hell out of each other in England, except that they have stricter gun laws.
OTOH, the worst places in downtown and Capitol Hill are the McDonald’s, and the Dick’s on Broadway, so maybe we should just ban fast food instead.

I’m the friend referred to in the text. For the record, it was actually young black men and women, four or five of them, running away from a single shooter, who was a young black man dressed in a black winter coat and black pants. He was calmly shooting south, “gansta style” (gun turned sideways) standing near the SW corner of 3rd and Pine, across the street from the McDonald’s. Another girl who was there said that one of the guys running away had a gun in his hand. It was fucking surreal. As I and everyone around me instinctively moved south away from the shooter, a middle-aged guy passed us heading north amiably chatting on his cell phone to the 911 operator: “Yeah, it was three shots. Guy was dressed in black”, as if he was talking to his wife about what to pick up at QFC on the way home. The cops were there in about two minutes, but of course the shooter was long gone.
I think the thing that was most disturbing about it was how calm the guy looked while he was shooting and as he walked away. It was obvious that he had no fear whatsoever that there would be any consequence for opening fire on a crowded street in the middle of downtown. He knew he could do it and walk away – a very strange thing to see with my own eyes.
As for “felt gang-like”, I’m not sure. Yes, it was young black people with guns, but they weren’t necessarily gang bangers. They could just as easily been just a bunch of fucking idiots with guns.
I was there, and walked through this little gang about 2 seconds before they fired shots. My friend and I had just crossed third and were heading west on pine. A group of African American kids/young adults wearing black clothes were gathered in a big group and verbally fighting. As we walked through it, we saw a guy put a gun up to a girl’s head. We quickly walked down the block and called 911. As soon as we called, shots were fired. We turned back to look and no one was on the ground injured so assumed the shots were fired in the air. Cops were there about 2 minutes later but by then the whole group had scattered and all the cops could do was walk around with some big flashlights and ask the drunk transients on 3rd where the shooters went.
