Here’s Landon Donovan’s goal in the 91st minute to advance the U.S.A. to the second round of the World Cup (and win the group for the first time since 1930).
After a close call by Algeria, Tim Howard’s perfect throw downfield set this whole thing up.
Great game.

GOOOOOOAL! What an amazing match.
I can watch that over and over.
Technically it was the 91st minute…
@3 – Yes it was. Fixed.
Holy Jesus…I think my ulcer just sprouted a hemorrhoid.
Man, I can’t believe the keepers in these games. They’re amazing. I swear, they could practically score from their own net, as far as they can boot those balls out. (I did once play with a keeper who did regularly score, if he got impatient with our offense – he’d TAKE THE BALL UP THE FIELD and leave the goal tended only by a fullback. Crazy bastard.)
SHIVERS, again, still! Watertown Coffee on 12th ERUPTED when it happened. Why does it make me teary? Is that because I’m a girl?
That first goal by us was good. They almost took away another win by us but thanks to that last goal… whew. Man tears were shed.
@8 Well Landon Donovan and Bob Bradley were crying too so.
This goal made Me a Landon Donovan fan . . . at least until the end of the World Cup. When he goes back to the Galaxy I will return to being annoyed by him and his receding hairline.
Soo filthy! I still can’t believe it, it was almost unreal. Go USA!
I wonder if this call will cause a lasting “US was robbed” sentiment and do more to solidify us as a real competitor in our minds and to those abroad—more so than if we just simply made it to the quarterfinals?
The nice thing about Comcast is they have all the World Cup games where Team USA plays for free in On Demand – in both standard and HDTV formats.
I can’t remember a more exciting moment in sports. I was jumping up and down on my bed at 8:45 in the morning.
@ 2, 8, & 15:
Totally Agree! That’s a-maze-ing soccer!
