  1. “Balinese – long-haired Siamese” is not the way to sell me on a cat. you say it’s mouthy AND sheds a lot? Where do I not sign up?

  2. his “american shorthair” looks more like a british shorthair. that short stubby (ugly!) face!

i looked into coat patterns in cats lately. i bet the cow cats in your neighborhood are domestic shorthairs with a biocolor patterned coat.
i don’t totally understand how cat breeds come about, but lots of times the coat pattern doesn’t actually indicated the breed. but then sometimes it does (obviously, like for siamese or balinese or ocicats or whatever)

  3. Cats have been employed, with and without intention, as vermin-killers for as long as there have been domestic cats. Somewhere along the line, it seems, cats were inducted into households to be treated more as pets than mousers, but some cats today are still used primarily for their vermin-killing quality. I suppose some cat breeds may still be used in their original role predominantly.

That said, with two cats, I never have any vermin problems; I have even seen one of them chase down and stomp to death a moth.

  4. Maine Coon’s are the best cat ever; and as any Maine Coon owner can tell you; they are the most like dogs. Even K-9 gets alone with them!!

  5. Somehow, after “reading” the title, I was thinking the video was going to be “88 lines about 44 cat types” and was pretty disappointed with the music when the video loaded. Oh well. Maybe that is a song someone should write!
