Bright white?

Why the change from mellow yellow? It’s a bit distracting, a bit too loud.

Charles Mudede—who writes about film, books, music, and his life in Rhodesia, Zimbabwe, the USA, and the UK for The Stranger—was born near a steel plant in Kwe Kwe, Zimbabwe. He has no memory...

  1. I think he’s referring to the route identification LED on the bus. And by “distracting” and “loud” I think he means “readable.”

  2. In Florida they have LED light strips in illuminated street name signs so you can see them at night/heavy rains. Could definitely use them here.

  3. This is like one of those “can you spot the differences between these two photos” games, but one of the photos is missing. Hmm, the crosswalk? The one way sign? The delivery truck? Oh, the destination sign? Oh. Ok.

  4. As a lifelong bus user, I dont have a problem with the margee display, especially if it lasts years longer than the alternative.

  5. No waaaaaaay. Sooo much better than the piss yellow. The clean white contrasts nicely with the filth that one so often finds sitting next to them on the bus. It almost tricks one into believing that you won’t need to lather oneself with hand sanitizer upon exiting the bus.

  6. In this photo, it loks less legible (yes I know the pic is blurry, I mean just the color difference) but I bet it’ll be a huge improvement at night

  7. So much easier to read from a distance. Because in the yellow light, all 2-digit bus numbers look the same from two blocks away. I can’t deal with that toxic hope-and-letdown cycle while I wait for the bus!

  8. What everyone else said, way easier to read, way better overall. It’s futuristic, kinda surprised you don’t like it.

  9. I know, how dare people be able to tell when their bus is coming. We should revert back to the old ways so that it looks more pleasing to your eyes.

  10. I spent a full 90 seconds thinking to myself “what the FUCK is charles going on about now? That one way sign maybe? Did they repaint the road lines, perhaps? hmm. Oh, the bus signage.”

    Who cares.
