that looks like the face transplant woman
Wait… what?
Well golly, I think I need to run out and get me something just chock full of HFCS right now!
That’s some lip liner, I’m thinking of trying out the look.
Love the lips, I’m thinking I’ll buy a lip liner while I’m out buying some HFCS.
Dang double post. Sorry.
lolwtf
Does someone think sucrose is good for you?
Sucrose is glucose weakly connected to fructose in a 50-50 ratio. HFCS is glucose not connected to fructose in very close to a 50-50 ratio.
Both of them will pile on the lard. Get over it.
luls at Klansmen as products synthesized from corn.
Kim @ 4-6; If you find that lipliner I totally want one… I dont have sound here at work so I was trying to lip read and needless to say I was distracted by the awesomeness that is that lipliner, in fact I thought to myself this women is the Tammy Fay of lipliner…
i like the spoof with the nazis.
Hahahaha. That was amazing.
So . . . is this a spoof of an actual ad? Because without context it’s just confusing.
@14 – Dan put the hyperlink to the ad being spoofed in the word “this” in “seen this? You’ll love this…”
Funny stuff.
Ah! Totally missed the hyperlink. Here it is again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEbRxTOyG…
now i’m spending the afternoon watching Jackie Beat/Dirty Sanchez videos…
That clip made my day. Thanks for sharing, Dan.
So, yes, high fructose corn syrup is only borderline “natural” (in that it wasn’t made naturally, though the ingredients do occur in our diet naturally). But it is actually fine in moderation. The original ad was a little dumb, but comparing HFCS to lead (an actual toxin, not a combination of chemicals found naturally in your blood and grape juice), the KKK (a frequently violent group hate group) and genital mutilation (a genuine abomination) is over the top. I understand that it was supposed to be funny, but there needs to be some “truth” in order for something to be funny. There’s absolutely no comparison between defending something that might potentially be slightly worse for you than ordinary sugar and defending female genital mutilation. What the fuck?

@19 You’re right, HFCS doesn’t have lead in it. It does have mercury in it, though:

HFCS causes midgets and transvestitism and concerned mom’s.
@19 – OMG is lead an “actual toxin?” I had no idea!! Thanks also for cluing me in about the KKK being “a frequently violent group hate group” and genital mutilation REALLY being “a genuine abomination.” What else do ‘they’ say about it??
Well done! You just became the spoof itself. 🙂
Heh. It’s not terribly clever, but yeah, I think enough people had small coronaries when those commercials came along that spoofing is necessary.
23: Yes, my point was that the original ad makes a reasonable if highly self-serving point. HFCS has turned into a health scare without very much evidence that its significantly worse for you than sugar. Now sugar is bad for you in various ways, but organic cane-juice soda is probably just as bad for you as a coke.
You see, I used to work in a health food store, so I’m particularly bitter when foodies and idiotic do-gooders act like HFCS is disastrous for your health without any real evidence. Based solely on the studies usually cited to damn HFCS, grape juice is worse for you than coke because it contains a higher percentage of fructose.
Also, that video was annoying and not funny–that’s the real crime here. Hans Moleman voice: “You wasted three minutes of my life, and I want them back. Oh well, I probably would have wasted them anyway.”
Um, we’re making fun of the COMMERCIALS — frankly, I couldn’t care less about HFCS!
when I read gay marriage posts I always know to look forward to loveschild’s delightful words. I didn’t expect hfcs apologists to take her reigns here, but hey, welcome! when you support the addition of artificial things produced by massive industry into our diets are you doing so in the name of “freedom?”
