Stefan Sharkansky, a right-wing blogger who remains convinced that Christine Gregoire “stole” the 2004 election, just made $225,000 off a settlement with King County, which took two years to provide him with the names of every single person who voted in the 2004 governor’s election, the Seattle Times reports. Maybe now he can finally afford to tip more than 10 percent.
Anti-Government Blogger Gets Rich at Government Expense

This makes me want to puke.
To be fair, looting the government for personal gain with a secondary goal of driving it into insolvency is perfectly consistent with the ideals of the modern conservative movement.
I always tip about 20% when I select a wine.
Thanks Stefan, for constantly complaining about how our tax dollars are put to bad use and personally taking as much as dozens of households would pay to the county.
Perhaps we should tea-bag this guy.
To protest wasteful spending of government money.
And I’m NOT referring to literal bags of tea by using that phrase.
Can you afford to buy your own wine yet?
ECB, what’s with your perverse hostility to open government?
By the way, greater than thirty days have elapsed since you copped a plea for stealing wine from QFC. One of the conditions of the plea was that you perform community service. For whom did you perform community service?
Just remember, don’t spit in his food, even if he undertips.
It’s best just to let someone else do that.
Much like how red states wouldn’t survive without the government largesse doled on their secessionist asses – the right-wing bloggers wouldn’t survive without the various forms of wingnut welfare (usually from people like Scaife or Moon, but sometimes unsuspecting donors, a la Eyman).
I think the economy would actually improve if they up and “went Galt”.
ECB, also you are a sloppy reporter. The County took greater than three years to satisfy the public records request.
How much wine would $225,000 buy?
Didn’t this guy used to write a column for the stranger?
You are sloppy times two. He just wanted the records for King County?
Nice way to be apart of the problem.
The County deserves it. FOIA and public records exist for a reason, and stonewalling and/or incompetence should get smacked around hard. It’s our information.
The County fucks up and you direct your hostility to the successful plaintiff.
@16 yes, sometimes overly-litigious people can be pretty annoying – especially if they are technically right but missed the point in every other way imaginable.
Sharkansky is a fucktard of monumental proportions and I am always happy to see additional mention of his ridiculousness with that waitress. Every once in a while I wonder how that poor child is managing through life, given the 2 parents he was dealt.
All his douchebaggery aside, it is pretty screwed up that Kingco took so long to fulfill his request. I’m curious what he thought he would find, since a judge in central washington long ago ruled that there was nothing to see here, folks?
I’d love to see him do the right thing and donate his settlement back to the county (or at least *somewhere* useful) but I am sure a jackass like him would never do that. Someone should look up his address and post it here (a la the Laurelhurst lady) so we can all stop by and ask him for a loan…
Wow, I would have been happier with a MUCH smaller settlement….
maybe something in the $8-10 range.
The Sharkansky tax.
I love it – a right-winger using a frivolous lawsuit to teach a lesson, and taking money from the government. It’s like bizzaro world.
The Republican Party will continue to get smoked in elections until they realize that everyone knows how ass-backwards their morals/beliefs are.
that man is a welfare king.
@20,
The guy is a world-class A-hole, but KC would never have settled if the lawsuit was frivolous.
Obeying the law. It’s not just a good idea, it’s, well, um, the law.
All the criticism should be directed at the county, why the hell did it take three years? I think Sharkansky is a prick, but I don’t feel that because of that he deserves lesser government accountability.
no – not all the criticism should be directed at the county. not until sharkansky proves a point to all this. sure, it seems like the county was wrong, and had to pay for that mistake. but i can blame this agenda-driven hack for pursuing a partisan matter to the detriment of the very county he is supposedly looking out for.
especially when conservatives are usually the ones complaining about big payouts for relatively minor offenses; especially when we are in a recession; etc…
Ugh, more parasitic wingnut welfare.
Sharkansky can totes make it up to us and do humanity a favor by sucking off a shotgun.
Let’s read the account of a true professional:
http://www.seattlepi.com/local/6420ap_wa…
And in completely unrelated news, sales of firearms and concrete used in bunker construction boomed in King county today…
Like Josh Feit, ECB is a spent force, all used up. Her wad is shot. She’s like a porn star who’s been in the business too long.
Between this and the Yousoufian case, KC appears to have a problem complying with the law. There’s no way they would have settled for that much money if they were in the right.
Let’s boycott their adverstisers. Continue to read the paper online and on paper. Let’s school ’em’.
