I’d kill myself on light rail. Right during rush hour while the Mayor films a campaign ad. I’d just blow my brains out right there on camera.
If the guy setting the example didn’t make me want to hang myself, the giant glaring typo in the middle of the poster sure would.
Slow news day?
That’s the first thing I thought of when I saw this ad! -So- glad I’m not the only one.
Where’s Gillian?
Is that typo in the ad (“yuor”) for real?
I love the light rail – but you’re right about that ad. I think it’s hilarious.
Good eye @2
@4 Same here.
And that typo is ridiculous. Did someone forget to hit spellcheck? Shoot, doesn’t word fix that one instantly?
I was wondering if you were going to comment on this ad- when I first saw it in the Stranger I actually interpreted it as someone jumping onto the tracks in front of the train… but hanging himself works too.
My first thought was to make a joke involving “light in the loafers,” but it just isn’t coming together for me. Wittier commenters, hurry.
This is a good acid test to see if you look on the bright side of life, or the gloomy side….
Doesn’t make me want to hang myself, but definitely looks like Mr. Loafers already did. The only thing it needs is a scratched-in “Brooks was here” at the top of the ad.
I’ve thought that they depict pro-transit voters rising to heaven – you know, now that the light rail rapture has arrived.
The TV spot that I’ve seen makes a bit more sense, because you see the full people in motion, floating up, rapture style like 13 said.
This one, in which you only see the dangling feet, looks like a hanging. I simply can’t see it any other way.
Anything that keeps you freaks from jumping off the Aurora Bridge I’m ok with.
I was visiting Seattle the other week and that’s the first thing that I thought of when I saw this ad. I thought it was kind of a bad choice. Obviously no one in that marketing office had ever tried to hang themselves.
