This just in…

A respected pastor, best-selling author and founder of a major ministry to teens predicts an imminent “an earth-shattering calamity” centered in New York City that will spread to major urban areas across the country and around the world — part of what he sees as a judgment from God.

  1. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Now, pass the offering plate; Six Flags Over Jesus has a $52 million mortgage to pay. And, the pastor’s jet doesn’t fly on the wings of prayers.

Nothing like fear and ignorance to butts in the pews and cash in the coffers.

  2. If that serves to subdue the unnatural behaviors some teens are choosing to follow these days then more power to him. Aids can be just the beginning of innumerable horrible diseases brought as a consequence of aberrant sexual practices.

  3. @4: Most of the kids doing it are “churched” kids, who have little sense and even less social value.

I’d be fine if they were all rounded up and calamitized. Preferably some kind of large rock.

  4. What ever happened to the asteroid that Pat Roberson predicted would hit Disney World because Disney provided same sex benefits, and allowed gay people into the parks?

  5. @4

Since the overwhelming majority of AIDS cases in the world are from heterosexual sex, is your god blind, or simply a mean, sadistic bastard who doesn’t give a fuck whom he kills?

Or, did you know this fact and simply mean that heterosexual sex is, in fact, the unnatural and aberrant sexual practice since your god has been so busy striking down straight people with diseases?

Where would we be without your moral authority? Let’s hope we soon find out…

    Rapture, anyone?

  6. “Such as we saw in Watts”

In other words, an old white guy just had another nightmare about the scary brown people?

  7. @5 – I thought the same exact thing. I saw the head line and thought “Did Savage go see Watchmen this weekend? Buh?”

    LEE WINS TEH INTERNETZZZ!!111!!!

  8. @5

I too can’t help but wonder if maybe this douchenozzle wasn’t just jumping on the Watchmen-related-PR-stunts bandwagon.

  9. Try a mental exercise: God loves all, is universal love, really universal love, all the way. There is no forgiveness, because there is no blame. There is no need for your worship on God’s part, because God is not any less or more for it, with or without it. God is already perfect. God loves Aids and God loves gays, and God loves Jewish people and God loves Hitler. God loves your life and your death equally, and without distinction. God loves your happiness and your pain. God loves the tick that gave you lime’s disease. It is a flaw in human beings (a flaw created and loved by God) that makes us to need distinction and conditionality in love, for it to have meaning. It’s okay to hate God for this if you like. He loves your hate too. Or don’t. It’s really all up to you. If god is all knowing and all powerful, and is the creator, then why would he create something he dislikes?

  10. In Jan, ’07, Pat Robinson also predicted “mass killings”, most likely via nuclear attacks in major cities in the later half of ’07. He said God told him it would happen. Apparently, God likes to fuck around with these guys.

  11. @14:

Or just maybe these guys who claim to “hear the word of God” are just full-of-shit hucksters who either don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about, or, who just make up stupid, alarmist shit to scare the jeebuz into their sheepish followers.

  12. I too can predict the economic collapse of fall 2008 and the WTC attacks of September 11, 2001 after the fact. You may all hail my prodigious prognostication skills.

  13. WHat I love about this is both how vague it is (don’t know when), and the fact of how matter-of-fact it is at the same time (God told me so). It gets to the whole free will vs. predestination thing, in that he seems to want to scare people into obeying whatever fundie morality he supports (in order to avoid judgement), and yet points to how inevitable this is (it WILL happen, we just don’t know when — which to me begs the question, why repent?). And why this particular part of the country? Why not San Francisco, where the evil gays live, or Las Vegas, the Disneyland of adult vice, or somewhere else? This type of incomprehensible nonsense is precisely why I rejected Christianity several years ago.
