The bar the Rob Roy in Belltown used to be the Viceroy: same owners, new name.
The name change involves a hotel corporation that is not even polite enough to return a phone call.
Of note in comments on this week’s Bar Exam:
โข a suggestion that Belltown bargoers could stand to read through the copy of Emily Post’s On Etiquette that sits at the end of the Rob Roy’s bar
โข a contention that the Rob Roy’s female bartenders are “H-O-T, HOT. Hot. Hubba hubba”
โข a contention that they are “also B-I-T-C-H-Y. Bitchy. Ugh”
โข and this refreshing bit of good sense:
I expect most bartender chicks would eventually get bitchy, since they have to be nice to amorous drunks in order to get paid. In case you haven’t figured this out yet: it’s not OK to hit on people whose job is to be nice to you, while they are at work.

I was there (for the first time) on Saturday. I will say that the waitress was more than helpful and friendly *(amidst a room full of drunk assholes) and the bartenders we’re courteous and profesional. Both went out of their way to accomodate my party of 6.
I’ve said it before:
“Hot bartenders are always bitches, because they tire of shooting down liquored-up admirers who have weak game and questionable hygeine.”

@2 do you bookmark your best comments for recycling purposes?
though I don’t go there often enough (due to Belltown), decor-wise it’s my favorite spot in the derschang empire. the new name suits it just fine and I loved hearing that others were tempted to steal the lamp, but was distressed to hear that vandals managed to actually take it (twice).
could we see some pictures of the bartenders?
Tara, the bar manager is a GREAT bartender (used to pour at The Hideout) and very awesome.
