My Ballard blog covers exciting news—the opening of the city’s first legal distillery since Sean Connery and Kevin Costner were smashing kegs in Chicago. Operating as Sound Spirits, their first product is a craft vodka called Ebb and Flow. There is a tasting room on site, so long as you “stick to Washington’s limit of a two ounce sip and a 2 bottle purchase limit per customer.” Washington state authorities: mandating useful things like the maximum size of liquor sips since 1934!
Not as cool as a yeti, but numerous deer sightings have been reported around Capitol Hill lately. According to Capitol Hill Seattle blog, “There are no immediate theories on how the deer ended up living in the middle of the city.” Perhaps it’s just trying to live an alternative lifestyle in peace. Ever think of that, CHS?
Lights out in Lower Queen Anne from 11 p.m. tonight until 7 a.m. tomorrow for repairs, says the blog Queen Anne View. Protip: find your analog porn collection and a candle now or you will be in for a long night of self-loathing.
Oh, hey! There’ll be a hearing today to discuss four proposals for the vacant MLK elementary school. Central District News blog reports that options include two different community centers, sports fields, and an expansion for a church. “Freegan commune” and “furry strip club” got knocked off in the previous round of balloting.

Obviously we need a compromise.
A furry commune.
Yes, I have thought of that. But not immediately.
Too bad you’re not French so people would read your posts.
I have a theory. Its the same theory as to how bears and cougars wound up in the city. THEY WALKED HERE.
“…the city’s first legal distillery since Sean Connery and Kevin Costner were smashing kegs in Chicago”
More likely the first ever licensed, legal distillery ever in Seattle. Or so shows my research.
It’s nothing for white-tailed deer to wander around cities and find their way into K-marts, but it’s less common with mule deer (what we have in Puget Sound). Still, there’s no reason that a mule deer can’t change it’s “woods-only” mentality if there is plenty of veggie grub in the city, and no major predators. Coyotes are only a threat to fawns, so adult deer would be safe if they avoid cars.
