1st…wow
An incredible 180 from Serena Williams’ loss.
I don’t really care for tennis, but that’s pretty damn amazing!
Meh. Yannick Noah did that 20 years ago.
You have to feel kind of sorry for that other poor sod, whoever he is – really, I have no idea – he wasn’t even trying to get into position for a return, but then again, why would he have? Against literally any other player in the world that would rightfully have been his point.
best.shot.ever in tennis in a high level match.
Especially because it was directly prior to match point. The guy was just stunned.
I happened to catch it live after flipping over from watching the ‘Hawks and I yelled “WOW” out loud in disbelief.
It was that good…
That shot actually made tennis interesting for a minute. I am sincerely impressed.
an amazing (almost) end to a startlingly well-balanced and affable semi-final. wonder if the USTA told djokavic and federer to be on their sunniest, most entertaining behavior to make up for the unfortunate end to serena williams’s match?
Josh — I’ve prob seen a half dozen matches between these two. They’re always well competed and entertaining matches played with generally very good sportsmanship.
You know, when I first glanced at the title of this post, I assumed it was Mudede.
Lucky tennis racquet.
Wow. Awesome!
I’ve actually seen other players do things like this before. Never in a semi-finals, though.
I for one, am tired of Federer. He’s a great player and a good sport but the opens are turning into “The Roger Federer Tennis Hour.” I’ve seen him win a million times… something new would be nice.
As for Serena Williams? Both she and her sister are hacks. Big egos, big arrogance, and big serves. Nothing else. Without their serves, both the Williams sisters would be low ranked, if at all. Their footwork is sub par and they make way too many errors. They’re nothing but a big serve and a loud mouth. I was done with both of them years ago.
@3, @12: Returning it between the legs is not that unusual, true. But smashing it for a winner in the U.S. Open is.
Who won?
