Idiotic former country singer Billy Ray Cyrus has announced that making his daughter star in kiddie TV show Hannah Montana has “destroyed my family.” He also said “I’m scared for Miley,” and suggested she might go out like Michael Jackson.

Now, I’m not The Stranger‘s Parenting Issues Editor. (That’s Charles Mudede.) And, in fact, I am not even a parent. But I would like to offer a tip to Billy Ray Cyrus: Instead of talking to GQ and random followers on Twitter about your daughter’s behavior, maybe you should talk to your daughter about her behavior. You disgusting little man.

  1. He also blames David Lynch for Hannah Montana. As Red Foreman would say, “Dumbass”.

If only we heeded Bill Hicks’ advice so long ago.

  2. He also blames “The Devil” for his family’s problems (drugs, break-up, horrible music and television programming, etc). Yeah…that’s the way to go. Don’t accept any responsibility for your live being fucked up. It’s “the devil”. They are just pawns in the whole Good vs. Evil kerfuffel.

  3. What has she done that’s so bad? Smoked some pot/silvia? Showed up mostly naked in a few photos? Dated idiots? Nothing about that is outside the usual 18-year-old experience these days. He should chill out and be glad he’s raising Hannah Montana, not Montana Fishburne.

  4. All things considered Miley is doing pretty damn well for a celebrity kid. Nothing she’s done is terribly out of the norm for teens breaking away from their parents. She’s just doing it in view of the paparazzi instead of at college.

  5. Moral of the story: Father’s need to screw their show biz daughters for every penny they make BEFORE they turn 18. I think that’s what he is really upset about.

  6. @8, 10, 11 I too fail to see what Miley’s done to be scared for. Seems to be handling the transition to adult celebrity better than most. Maybe we’re missing something. More likely though, BRC’s just upset about losing her a prop to his own faded faded celebrity.
