Here’s Blago—asking for our ears—on The View this morning, saying that his first pick for the senate was Oprah, that you can take the boy out of the ghetto but you can’t take the ghetto out of the boy, and that “had I known somebody was listening I wouldn’t have used language like that.”

“All I ask for is a chance to prove my innocence,” says the man who is skipping his own trial to appear on national television. Life is so unfair.

  1. The problem with populists from the middle class like Blago and Palin is they don’t have all the snooty niceties of media polished elites. They weren’t born with a silver microphone in front of them.

However, he and is closer to what I am and where I come from than most.

  2. Haha, I want to keep Blagojevich around forever. Not as a public servant, but as a caricature of the most hilariously sleazy politician in universe. I want him to go on SNL as a parody of himself, to go on Oprah and jump on her couch, to go on Letterman and stomp on his desk. Every eight or ten months, I want to hear the newest wacky-shit-Blagojevich-has-done-now report, like him committing arson so he could stage a very public rescue of the people trapped inside, stuff like that. And I want his hair to never, ever change.

  3. I just moved to Chicago and initially regarded Blagojevich as curiously ridiculous and funny. But already he is becoming like Bush for me – can’t stand to look at his face or hear his voice.

  4. He is right though that the rules as set up by the Illinois legislature don’t let him mount a real defense. If his witnesses have to be approved by the “prosecution” that’s kind of not evenhanded.
