Make way, Truthers. Step aside Birthers. Just when you thought conspiracy theories couldn’t get any stupider, meet the “Brainer” movement:
Some conspiracy Web sites are claiming that the shootings that nearly killed Representative Gabrielle Giffords and did end the lives of a federal judge, a 9-year-old girl and four others never actually took place. One particularly bizarre site, run by a Texas man, says it was all a government hoax that used actors.
You know, just like they faked the moon landing, only without shooting Neil Armstrong in the head.

Well, actors ARE a dime a dozen, so it’s not like a few would be missed (he said, donning his Nomex suit…)
But seriously, just when you thought the nut-jobs couldn’t get any nuttier…
Can we start a petition drive to kick a state out of the union? I really think America would be better off without Texas.
Mother Mary and Joseph! I wish they’d all go away.
What? What! Really?!? This is the most absurd thing I have recently read.
And this just in, Loughner was ruled incompetent to stand trial. I’m sure that will only add fuel to the fire.
Giffords wasn’t shot! She was eaten by a tiger! All else is propaganda!
that’s pretty fantastic, imo.
@6: A tiger!? He probably did it as a lark; part of a spree! Or he’s completely mad.
Goldy left out the worst part: they’ve been going to the home of the little girl who died and demanding that her parents prove she existed.
I expect these people to start yelling about how we’re all stuck in The Matrix next.
Good thing we have the modern media to give a voice to nut jobs …
Also, that nice John Wilkes Booth was a patsy! Old Dishonest Abe retired to a Caribbean island, and later invented coconut-flavored rum. PROVE HE DIDN’T!
@9, Eewww. That is really vile.
I wonder if it’s every country that has so many lunatics or are we especially loaded with them because of our extreme religions. Because I really believe that religion damages peoples brains and this kind of thing is the result.
Vince, we’re the third most populous country in the world. Of course we have more crazies than some places.
@15: I think he may have meant crazies per capita.
More like no-brainers.
There must be a heuristic that claims up to 20% of a population is going to perversely believe the contrary of what is actual fact: like 20% believe the world is flat, the Canucks wouldn’t win the Western Conference, that Sarah Palin is an adequate/competent presidential candidate, that the day of the week this thread originated was anything but Wednesday in North America.
Armstrong WAS shot in the head, on the set. Horrific, really.
@17 …
You know what really was a hoax? Obama’s campaign. You fuckers thought he was on your side. Most of your still do. What a fucking joke you are to democracy.
Fuck a Duck!
I miss the old days of UFOs and alien/military conspiracies.
I’m a little disappointed. I’ve been waiting for weeks for some conspiracy theorist to link Gabrielle Giffords and Osama bin Laden both being shot in/around the left eye. Maybe bin Laden got a sex change and has been living as Giffords. Maybe Giffords was the head of Al Qaeda all along. Maybe Giffords was shot so that bin Laden could take her place. I don’t care what, but I demand conspiracy!
@21 – Skillful segue.
SO LET’S GIVE THEM ATTENTION LIKE THEY WANT
you might need to see the videos showing that since 2008 giffords had her own youtube page and she was subb’d to only 2 people. Skelton and Loughner. After the shooting someone erased loughner. Her doctors bio was put up 3 days after the shooting by jGelleram
It’s FAKE. Deal with it.

Tragedy In Tucson Exposed
Why do you all trust your government and the media so much?!?! What reason do you have to trust them? Why not find out the truth for yourselves instead of relying on media and govt that do not have your interests in mind?
