You know this bug?

IMG00027.jpg

b353/1243987062-bug_close-up.jpgThis bug that’s, like, half-caterpillar half-spider? It’s all squirmy and ribbed-for-bug-pleasure with some stupid orange spots on its back? Here, perhaps this close-up will help you understand which bug I mean. ——————>

Seeeeee? That bug. I knew you’d understand.

Anyway, THIS BUG IS PERVERTED. This bug just crawled out of my shirt (the front part!!). Keep this bug away from your children, unless you want your children to get crawled on by TINY SEX OFFENDERS. Ew, bug. Ew.

Lindy West was born an unremarkable female baby in Seattle, Washington. The former Stranger writer covered movies, movie stars, exclamation points, lady stuff, large frightening fish, and much, much more....

  1. If it looks a bit like a black crocodile with some orange on it, it’s a larval ladybug. Consider this your very lucky day!

  2. btw they’re HARMLESS, so just enjoy the wonders of nature, and ask yourself why your first reactions were fear and disgust.

  3. I once had a ladybug stay on my person for over 8 hours. Even through me playing drums in bombastic band practice. I had to remove it when it started gnawing my face right before bed.

    True story.

  4. Lindy.. I love you so much. It’s defiantly a larval beetle, not necessarily a ladybug but it’s very hard to tell from the picture. It won’t hurt you… though it might leave a *tiny* spooge….

  5. These are Pacific Aortal Leeches and there is probably a small colony occupying your pulmonary system. As this one matured it was secreted through a pore in your skin, likely near your armpit. They’re harmless. And a little salty.

  6. I think I saw this same type of incest the other day as well. I thought it was a spider at first but it only had 6 legs and seemed to have 3 body sections. Looking at some pictures of larvae I think the slog mob is right for once. It was a lady beetle larva: http://z.about.com/d/insects/1/0/g/5/-/-…

Darn you sloggers. I thought you were stupid for thinking it was a lady bug, but no, I’m the stupid one.

  7. Do you have an aphid infestation, maybe? Ladybug larvae are very attracted to aphids, even more than to lady parts. Despite their name.

  8. Sounds like a ladybug larva, also known as an “aphid wolf”, since they are voracious eaters of aphids as they grow.

  9. Ladybug larvae are AWESOME. I’ve seen them in action on an aphid covered stem. They’re like Pac-Men (or Ms. Pac-Mens?) but eat aphids instead of dots.

Adult ladybugs are awesome too, but those fuckers will bite you.
