A concerned parent forwarded this email sent to students at Whitman Middle School in Ballard (emphasis mine):

**To all students: There is no such thing as “butt slap Friday.” So if you think it’s OK to slap someone’s butt, think twice. That is called sexual harassment and there will be serious consequences if you are caught doing it to anyone at school….whether it is Friday, or any other day.

I assume the serious consequences don’t include spankings. RIP Butt-Slap Friday. You lived and died in the space of an email.

  1. This sort of reminds me of an unofficial annual event from my high school days called “Senior Skip Day”, when the 12th graders would collectively fail to show up for school and head for the beach instead. Typically it happened late in the year, right around the point where most started to realize that semi-freedom was right around the corner anyway.

On the morning in question, the assistance principal would get on the louderspeaker to make sure all students knew that Senior Skip Day “wasn’t real”, and that anyone participating was in big trouble… which struck us all as rather hysterical, since no members of the intended audience were there to hear it.

  2. Where were these fridays when I was in school.

Anyway, my senior years senior prank day was a miserable fail. Nothing happened except rumors about erasers disappearing from a few classes. And something about grasshoppers on the loose in a hallway.

  3. At my school we hae somthig calle hug an asian tuesday or hug a red head monday. These were unplanned but always spread throughout the day. We always got in trouble because it was counted as PDA at my school even though we were realy were not showing any affection. ;P
