A big old CNN poll suggests that Herman Cain has taken a huge tumble. The Washington Examiner says:
According to the survey, Mitt Romney remains in the lead, although just barely, with 24 percent support. Newt Gingrich is in second place, with 22 percent, and Cain is third, with 14 percent. The Georgia businessman is barely ahead of Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who is in fourth place with 12 percent.
That would seem to make sense, especially given Cain’s terrible performance in Saturday’s foreign policy debates. But polls are still not entirely relevant in this race: What matters are the first three states that will vote in 2012. Daily Kos says that in a poll taken over the weekend, Herman Cain still leads in Iowa, just barely, over Gingrich, with Romney at a distant third.
Meanwhile, Politico says that some conservatives are finally coming around to the fact that even though they hate his living guts, Romney is going to win the nomination. Here’s Red State founder Erick Erickson:
โMitt Romney will be the nominee because the other candidates, right now, are a pretty pathetic lot,โ Erickson said. โAs much as the American public does not like Barack Obama, they loath[e] a man so fueled with ambition that he will say or do anything to get himself elected. Mitt Romney is that man.โ
To shore up those conservative credentials, Mitt Romney has just brought a few of George W. Bush’s energy advisers onto his campaign.

โAs much as the American public does not like Barack Obama…”
Right now Obama’s approve/disapprove is 50%/49%. Just saying.
Right now Congressional job-killing Republicants are at 7-9 %.
Ouch.
and that 49% disapprove – a lot of those folks LIKE obama, they just want him to kick more ass.
The only reason anybody gives a crap what happens in Iowa is because they’re first. Four years ago, Huckabee won. New Hampshire went for John McCain in 2000, not Bush, and Hillary, not Obama, in 2008. South Carolina is marginally more important, because some non-trivial number of people actually live there, but I wouldn’t get too excited even there.
I’ll admit I’m stunned at the rapidity with which Cain has shot himself down, but I expected it to happen eventually. Gingrich is a blip; there’s absolutely no way the party insiders will let him happen. Expect to hear a lot of stories about his marital relations and lobbyist jobs in the next couple of weeks.
If these are the energy advisers who pushed the $1 Billion funding of the DOE’s Hydrogen Initiative during Bush then great.
The defunding of hydrogen, fuel cell and nanotechnology research and promotion by Obama was one of the great tragedies of science and engineering in America….a very, stupid thing…
i really don’t think i could care less what happens in this presidential election. we’re going to be choosing between a wolf in sheep’s clothing who completely & totally abandoned his constituency the moment he was elected to whore himself out to corporate america, or the former corporate raider who surrounds himself w/ bush people. that’s the state of american democracy. truly pathetic. do you want to go right @ 50 mph? or right @ 150 mph? that is the ‘choice’ we are given. who gives a fuck? we’re going rightward. there is no option to vote & make the country go left. this democracy is dead.
@6
No, this is actually very important. The question you have to ask is this: Who do you want nominating the replacements for Ruth Bader Ginsberg and, FSM willing, Scalia and Thomas? All the other policy stuff? Short term noise.
Why is it I got goose eggs when I googled “gif Herman Cain stripper poll?” How is it possible that gif hasn’t been made yet?
Cain’s greatest fear?
P’ZONE!!!
RUSH, URGENT. WE NEED TO DROP CAIN AS CANDIDATE. HE IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE CANDIDATE WITH INNECESSARY EXPENSES TO THE PEOOPLE. Is he afraid of the sexual harassed women? Is not them he should worry about, but God. PRIVATE PROTECTION 24 HOURS is super expensive AND IS NOT IN BUDGET. It will be more debt with interests for the tax payer. CAIN IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE INCREASING THE TAX PAYER DEBT.
OBAMA LIKES TO WASTE MONEY IN LUXIROUS VACATION PAID BY THE TAX PAYER IN PRIVATE ISLANDS TO FAN HIS EGO. CAIN WILL BE WORST THAN OBAMA, MAKING THE TAX PAYER PAY INSTEAD of his campaign. I SONLY A SAMPLE. LET MAKE HIM CLEAR THAT HE HAS NO CHANCE, AND LET US SAVE MONEY.
