My brother just called to tell me he’s been awarded a Navy SEAL contract. I was less than thrilled when he first brought up the idea of becoming a SEAL a year ago, and reading up on their training and deployment did nothing to soothe my liberal, big-sister hand wringing (why the fuck couldn’t he grow up to be a teen dad like his friends???). But after watching him work for the last year—running marathons in hiking boots, swimming miles with a brick in his mouth, morphing into one giant ab, etc.—I’m really proud of him for getting his goddamn contract. He’s earned it. (Goddammit.)

And what better way to celebrate that fact than by paying a hairy man $5 to write Congrats! on his stomach and dance his fucking ass off? (Hat tip to TVDinner for the idea!)

I love you, buddy! Reach for the stars!*

  1. Dror is truly the gift that keeps on giving. I got this video about two months ago and have watched it (at least) twice a day since then.

Some day I’ll probably rival Dror in body hair but hot damn! I’ll never be able dance like that.

  2. I know how you feel. My family was partial to airborne and the Army Rangers. My old man was a Green Beret. Before it was a cliché.

You and your brother should be very proud.

Even if it is just the navy.

  3. Oh gosh, I’d forgotten about this! Glad you’ve enjoyed it, Cienna. Dror is awesome, and your brother totally deserves this.

Becoming a SEAL is a hell of an accomplishment. Congrats, Cienna’s little bro!

  4. Cienna,

I think it is awesome that your brother is a Navy Seal! I think it is just as awesome that you are so proud of him despite some inner (and possibly outer) turmoil.

Although we wish we didn’t fight, I know that without capable people like your brother, other countries would try to up and steal our land, you know, the way we stole it from the Indians?

Anyway, I think it is awesome and I salute his service to this country! Tell him a big thank you from Joe in Seattle!

    Regards,

    Joe
