From the New York Daily News:
Eighties teen idol Corey Haim died Wednesday morning of an apparent drug overdose, according to Los Angeles police.
Police sources said Haim’s mother was with him at his Oakwood apartment and called 911 after finding him unresponsive, according to TMZ.com. The sources said Haim’s death appeared to be accidental. He was pronounced dead at Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank.
The Canadian-born actor starred the 1987 vampire flick “The Lost Boys,” but was probably best known for his roles with fellow actor Corey Feldman. He was 38.
RIP Mr. Haim, who ran this ad in Variety in February 2008.
(And yes, this story is the lead item in Paul’s Morning News below, but dude also deserves a post of his own.)

I can’t be the only one thinking “God, you took the wrong Corey”.
Amen, Fnarf. Of course now that makes me feel bad for the other Corey. I bet he feels like shit today. Poor guy.
The totally weird thing… last night I decided for some reason to watch The Lost Boys (still a very enjoyable movie today) and I couldn’t remember if Corey Haim was still alive.
I kinda feel like the grim reaper cat now.
But was either Corey ever right, even for a moment? They were poster boys for the proudly stupid.
I guess that Feldman Haim sandwich fantasy isn’t going to happen now
Well, it’s definitely sad to see him, or anyone, go so young… that said, I’m surprised he lasted as long as he did. I expected him to buy the farm years ago.
“Here are some words that rhyme with Corey: Gory. Story. Allegory. Montessori.”
Time for a Sequel
Weekend at Corey’s !!
Let’s see, a guy who was more famous for his drug abuse than he was for his acting dies from an overdose. Why am I not surprised?
Yeah, it’s rough when somebody dies so young, but Jesus, this can’t really be a shock to anyone.
@ 6 Doug,
Banished to the land of wind and ghosts.
RIP
@ 6 for the Simpsons win.
I read this story and was so surprised, saying to myself “but where did he get the money to afford drugs?”
@6 .. hoary whorey..
Dude, where’s my career?
What a complete waste of a life. Hard to feel bad for him.
LUCAS!!! NO!!!!
@9
That sums it up pretty well….
@15- Roger Ebert refered to Corey Haim as “the next DeNiro” in his review of Lucas. He was really good in that movie.

Yup, I thought that too. Corey Haim was definitely the cuter of the Coreys. I had posters of him all over the wall of my bedroom as a pre-teen girl. I heard he blew up to 300 pounds a few years back. What the hell happened to that guy anyway? (besides drugs)
