He hilariously accuses “us” of cherry-picking and yet often says the EXACT same things the teabaggers on this video are saying. In fact, he does so in this exact post!! Holy shit! One may not agree with what he’s saying, but this is “teleprompter argument” is just embarassingly stupid: he didn’t use a teleprompter in his classes. He didn’t use a teleprompter when he was speaking at my university. And he wasn’t using a teleprompter when he mopped the floor with Republicans at their own luncheon.

    But then again, maybe Basil has a point: teabaggers don’t use teleprompters. They scribble incoherently on their hands, signs, t-shirts, and maybe in their pocket there if they can find it.

    Remember back to when we had a teabagger president; he didn’t use a teleprompter either. He just straight made things up.

  19. Well, that’s 9-1/2 minutes tossed on the ash heap of a lazy Sunday afternoon. A disheartening view of what’s taken for acceptable American-speak. The kind of crowd that needs someone to coalesce and mobilize them to pick up pitchforks, staves and torches and assault everyone with whom they don’t agree (or worse, don’t understand). Let’s see their reaction when government is actually taken out of their lives. Gotta give the kid credit for attempting to reason with these scaredy-grumps.

  23. I was down there earlier this afternoon. These interviews/videos of tea party protests are a little deceiving. There were at most 50 people there in front of the capital. One of them started blowing a shofar for some reason while a couple of them started praising god and Jesus.

    Nowhere near the amount of people that these videos seem to suggest. In fact the vast majority of the people in the mall today were the Immigration Reform protesters.

I remember abundant stupid comments on both sides (the “birthers” were all over the place back then too – VP Candidate Sarah Palin even said our new president “pals around with terrorists” for God’s sake), but they did nothing rose to the level of calling a member of the United States House of Representatives as a “nigger” or a “faggot” to his face in the halls of Congress.

    @27 I’m speaking specifically about the video, not teabaggers in general…There were quite a few videos making Obama supporters look foolish for not being able to talk about his specific accomplishments as a Congressman. It was cheap when conservatives did it and it is cheap now that liberals are doing it.
