  2. Instead of driving to Kirkland you could have seen him by walking to the Moore. Eight months ago he opened two shows for Janeane Garofalo there.

    Laughs is a GREAT place to see a comedy show. Yes, it is in a Totem Lake strip mall, in what used to be a Godfather’s Pizza…but it is CLEAN, well-run, comfortable, with good sound and lights, better than you’d expect food and lots of motivated staff on hand.

    They also happen to bring in a great line-up of comics (this is where I saw Maria Bamford & Jackie Kashian on the same night!)

    Yes, sadly, it involves a drive across a bridge that will soon be tolled–it isn’t in your backyard. And yes, you will have to watch Kyle Kinane with some people who aren’t necessarily fans of his…yet.

    But I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend going to see comedy at Laughs…when I’d refused to go see some of my closest friends and lifelong idols perform comedy at Giggles, towards the end of that club’s existence.

    There’s a huge gulf between the two experiences–and Laughs you can reasonably assume to be as good as going to a new movie theater to see a movie.

    (And yes, stinkbug, you could have seen Kyle on Janeane’s show at The Moore…OR, you could also have seen him perform at this spring’s Bridgetown Comedy Festival in Portland where he did a show in the thirty person capacity Bar of the Gods outdoor plaza stage… (Here’s a picture from THAT: http://www.flickr.com/photos/seattlecome… )

    BUT…the important part of Lindy’s story is that if you DIDN’T see him elsewhere (or if you DID and want to either see him again or bring friends with you)…you could choose to go to Laughs in Kirkland, because he’s going to be there.)

    Seriously, SLOG…sometimes, you don’t have to take a giant shit on everything related to stand-up comedy.
