Okay, okay, we get it! You hated the captcha and change is the worst thing in America unless it’s coming from Obama. But please, children, behave. If you want to test out the new comment feature on Slog, please do so here in this open thread. And let’s be nice about it, okay?
Don’t test the comments in another post, unless you have something specific to say about that post. Let’s at least try to stay on topic elsewhere.
So post some comments and see how you like it. And if you have any problems, questions, and/or constructive criticism about the changes, feel free to e-mail me at megan@thestranger.com. We want you to enjoy Slog, really, we do! But this is not a sandbox. Let’s play nice.
Please? And thank you. I’d hate to have to take away your Slog Happy privileges.

!!
of course I’ll have to comment twice. Once to test it and once to comment on the test.
I don’t like it.
You know what I liked about the old way? It remembered me so I didn’t have to re-enter my email and name.

Look. Two issues. One: I spent a few minutes formulating out a well-thought revision of my post which disappeared into the ether. Only my original post showed up. Lame.
Two: The “revise comments” field is half covered in ads, forcing me to type blindly without seeing what I’m writing. Also lame.
I’m not anti-change, but did you test this new system out At All before introducing it? I mean, did you test it on different platforms, using different browsers, etc? Putting such an untested system in place just makes you look like dirty hippies.
I do like being able to hit “add comment” and get whizzed down to the bottom. Wheeeeeeeeeee!
Hmm
new?
Something else
These are, indeed, my comments.
It appears to remember me, so that’s cool.
Wagga Wagga
Nose fork.
This sucks. Can’t link my name to my blog (sullins-san.blogspot.com), extra wait for the preview, must retype name and email every time – not cool.
Okay, I’ll add my two cents…
People DEFINITELY hate change; I once gave a homeless man one of those Sacajawea dollars and he didn’t seem too happy about it.
Change? What change?
I see no captcha.
The changes made it load much slower on my phone.
What is a captcha?
I think this will help:

My original comment posted but NOT my changes.
Why?
Ok, trying it out in this post, this time. =) I would suggest an optional registration, though. I don’t have a problem with having a captcha if you can bypass it that way, but otherwise it seems to be solving a problem that I haven’t seen happening.
Where do I put my name?
This is a test
So, there was a change?
Indecisive joh is indecisive.
blah blah test test
Joh decides joh does not like lack of auto fill, and no linking to johs sweet pokemans fansite via namelink.
Boo.
Wha?
why is the comment preview text so small, yet the email/display name text so freaking huge?
I detect an inconsistent design paradigm.
Ack ack ack.
this isn’t too bad on firefox 3, but i miss the html formatting. sometimes i want things to be *bold*. now there will be more ALLCAPS comments.
and do we have to put the full URL for links now? http://www.thestranger.com
or will just thestranger.com work? it does!
Comment.
oh, i liked how the links used to automatically open in a new tab. i think people are going to hate this system.
what’s all the commenting about?
I don’t like the type font. I had no problem posting.
Change schmange
Can someone tell me how to get html to work? Or, is it not going to work at all in the new system?
bold
italics
link
blockquote
None of these things work anymore, apparently.

Rice yum.
Such fun!
I like eggs…
Goodness gracious me…
I still don’t understand the threat of taking away blog privileges. Anyone can get around it. But I agree people are twats about the new system. I like it!
