Tonight, the Stranger Election Control Board will drop in on election parties across the city to give you the raw emotion of candidates celebrating their victories and wallowing in defeats (and mooch from the self-service bars). Will Mike “tunnel-shunner” McGinn edge past Joe “money-buckets” Mallahan? Will Dow Constantine prevail over his fellow Democrats to take on Republican Susan Hutchison? We’ll be there.
But there’s one party we won’t be at. Jessie Israel, who is running against Nick Licata for city council position 6, says that we can’t attend her party unless we “wave signs” today or “donate” to the campaign. Now, now, Jessie. You know we’re too drunk to hold signs and we spent our lunch money on booze.
King County Elections will post results in two batches: one at 8:15 p.m. and another at 10:00 p.m. Election workers estimate that 43 percent of the total number of ballots will be posted in the 8:15 update, and a handful more from accessible voting stations will come in later in the night.
Tune in to Slog.

haha. I put a Bart stamp on my ballot.
oops, I guess I should mail it…
Glad I didn’t for for Jessie Israel. I wonder if she’ll be turning the TV camera crews away too.
BTW, thank you SECB. I didn’t follow your recommendations 100%, but found them invaluable nevertheless.
So where are said parties?
I know the Spitfire has one, and there’s another on Capitol Hill, but if you post locations and times early people can get their via bus instead of driving …
Seriously, no press at your party, Jessie? Do you not understand how this works?
haha…waiiiit…there are seriously parties for primaries of local elections…..
hahahahahahhaa….
you guys are fucking losers….seriously
I donated and volunteered for Jessie’s campaign and she didn’t invite me or others I know who did the same. I think she will just be at home asleep tonight.
Party list at PubliCola.

i put that same stamp on mine!
Good party list @7. Food starts at 6 at Mike O’Brien’s, and Nick Licata and Larry Phillips start at 7:30 – the Licata party has a doorman at the tower.
Larry’s is at the Spitfire – order an Obamatini.
I put the Lisa stamp on my ballot, too! Civic participation felt like it deserved a Lisa stamp. (I put the angry-looking Maggie stamp on my health insurance payments)
Jessie is hosting a party in her backyard for her family, friends, and volunteers. We apologize if we missed you on our invite list. If you have volunteered with the campaign, you are certainly welcome at this event. Please give the office a call for details. Also, Jessie plans to attend the Municipal League/Seattle Works/Publicola party at Twist later in the evening.
It is okay. I am voting for Licata in November. I am just not feeling the love from Jessie and this is one of many examples.
Some of the people where I worked dropped off their absentee ballots today at the U Dist Neighborhood Office.
Their votes won’t be counted for a while – Tonight will just tell us that the Bag Tax on the Poor is dead but if it’s close we may not know who are the Top Two for KC Exec and Seattle Mayor until Saturday.
Which means – your vote really DOES count. You could decide a race just with ONE ballot.
having a private party when running for a public office is bad form.
@13: I’m pretty sure yesterday was the last day to vote. You said so yourself.
@15 – I was just trying to scare you into making up your frickin minds. It’s always tomorrow or next year with you guys and it’s always oh so difficult oh my poor 20 yo bunions hurt and I’m still hung over from dancing until 4 am and puking all over my new shoes elections are hard mommy.
@16: I’m picturing you now as Chris Farley’s character in the motivational speaker skit.
@9: What’s an Obamatini? A great big shot of bitters? ‘Cuz that’s kinda what I’m feeling like right now.
Lying to people to get them to do what you want is supposed to be a right-wing tactic. Please make a note of it.
