On Saturday, August 27th, surveillance cameras recorded the theft of a key-milling machine and 5-foot-tall framed clown picture from an office building on Lake City Way. A police report states that the time stamp on the cameras revealed a man, woman, and a young girl, approximately four years old, entering the building at 3:02 a.m. According to the report filed by SPD Officer Beatty, “while in view of the camera, the female suspect [began] to move furniture around the lobby outside the office, apparently playing with the child.” The clown and key-milling machine were later reported missing.

The report notes that there were no traces of entry. The doors are electronically locked, require a key to enter, and didn’t appear to be damaged.

  1. I heard that an egg was thrown at a window somewhere in greater Seattle sometime in the past week. Sure hope the intern gives us breathless coverage of that one, too!

  2. Hmmm, I bet that’s why the kid was there, because a very small person could gain entry and open the doors in a way that a large person could not. I don’t, however, understand about the clown picture.
