Those are some of the themes in this piece by yours truly, which might mark the end of my family ever speaking to me. Or maybe it’ll be a beginning of sorts; maybe everyone will start to calm down. After 9/11, one of my brothers became a fundamentalist Christian, another of my brothers went off to fight in Iraq, and I somehow ended up working at this lefty newspaper.
