According to a police report, on Thursday Saturday, July 16, South Precinct Officer Eric Michl was flagged down by a man on a bicycle who recounted witnessing one man attack another with a wooden board on the Southwest Spokane Street fishing pier. The bicyclist explained to the officer that the board wielder was an acquaintance of his. Evidently distressed at what he saw, the witness rode his bicycle all the way from south Seattle to the International District to report the incident. He described his friend as wearing a blue Seahawks cap (and presumably holding a board).
Dutifully, Officer Michl dispatched Officers N. Freutel and J. Pitts* to the scene of the alleged attack where they successfully located the probable boarding victim and his alleged Seahawks-loving assailant.
After talking to both men, Officer Freutel reported that one of the men had a knife, and “came at [the victim] with it.” (The report doesn’t explain why.) The victim “responded in self-defense by hitting [the knife] out of [his] hand using a board.” The report states that the board-wielding man “had a sore wrist from swinging the board,” but that otherwise, neither man was injured. With Officer Freutel’s help, the two men were able to talk through their conflict, until they “were satisfied and agreed to continue [Fishing? Friendship? Living their lives?] peacefully.” The police report notes that Officer Freutel “settled the matter with both and without the need for an arrest.”
Outstanding work, gentlemen. Philip Galanes would be pleased.
*Real officers go by first initial only!

What happened to Police Beat?
“Our superior intellect is no match for your puny weapons!”
Knife? Board? Cops? No shots fired?? I’m guessing the perps were white.
Knocking a knife out of someone’s hand with a board is pretty impressive as well.
First initial only? But doesn’t this only work in towns with less than 27 cops?
Wasn’t July 16 a Saturday and not a Thursday?
