2003 Miss USA Susie Castillo describes her recent TSA pat down in Dallas, in which she says an agent “touched my vagina” four times. A hearty congratulations to Osama bin Laden on yet another stunning victory.

  1. Not to dismiss her trauma, but god, that was a sucky, self-promoting account:

On my overnight, 11-hour flight back to Los Angeles last week after hosting the red carpet premiere for “Fast Five” in Rio De Janeiro, I connected in Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) where I had the misfortune of being selected to go through one of those full body scanners that emits radiation.

  2. My guess is she got more radiation on the eleven-hour flight than she would have in a quick trip through the scanner.
<sarcasm> I’m glad the TSA has shown me how dangerous it is now to take a domestic flight from one midsized city to another midsized city. Dem dere terrists am everywhere! LOL!OMG!Libuhtyundfraydumbforevah! I had no idea how many lives I was jeopardizing taking Cetaphil in my carry-on, or getting up in the last hour of flight to answer the call of nature. </sarcasm>
Ms. Castillo should ask for “probable cause” statements from TSA personnel before they touch her.

I am wondering why only two Republicans co-sponsored the American Traveler Dignity Act (H.R. 6416). I sympathize with the left on many issues, but I suspect Democrats and Republicans alike believe: a) Napolitano and Chertoff can do no wrong when it comes to airport security screening; b) travelers must not retain their rights and dignity when they fly (the Alaska State Legislature disagrees on that point); c) everyone traveling on American domestic flights has intent to blow up planes.

  3. “As an American” she feels violated? I wonder if she was from some other nation, whether she would feel the same, or if her expectations would be lower. I also wonder if “as an American”, she has any thoughts about how people from other nations should be treated at airport security checkpoints.

  4. @8 It isn’t just about radiation dosage. It’s about the type of radiation and the way the radiation is focused or not focused on different body parts. Radiation during a flight is dangerous and does create increased risks, and people should be aware of that. Some people should minimize such flights (those already at increased risk). But those flights do not deposit the radiation directly into the skin and do not focus the radiation in the head and neck area, creating a significantly increased danger for skin cancer. They also don’t focus the radiation on the genitals, although that is more of a risk factor for males, since they keep their reproductive organs external and more at risk.

  5. still waiting for Goldy to talk about democrats ending union rights in Massachusetts.

Im starting to think he is just a partisan democrat shill instead of a true progressive

  6. Jesus christ, you guys are really cynical are cruel today. I feel bad for the poor woman; she’s clearly suffering, upset and in a state of emotional pain. I know it’s easy to critique her level of violation and subsequent articulation of it from your armchairs, but perhaps err on the side of empathy.

@1 The slut shaming of someone who feels violated, whether you think she was or not, is unnecessary.

  7. Osama bin Laden doesn’t give a fuck about what security measures we are or aren’t taking, but good job keeping up with your perpetual narcissism.

  8. I have to say, having had that pat down a few times, its pretty invasive. they do indeed tough your labia (the vagina would be a wee bit over the line, even for a govt agency) for a young girl, probably taught that those parts down there are either dirty or only for your husband, it could be pretty upsetting.

  9. sounds like the same story that everybody who has been violated by the pat down tells, and nothing has changed so far.
nobody gets outraged until it happens to them personally, so we’re probably going to have to wait until half the population of the country has been violated by the tsa before they change the policies

  10. It is so bad that I cry now while standing in line for TSA. I’m not a cryer, but TSA sticks their hands in my pants, it was bad enough when they took down my hair.

What can we do? We have to do something. This situation is impossible.

  11. Lol comment card, really? “I’m sorry one of our agents touched your genitals, if you could send us a stern letter we’ll be sure to throw it in the trash”

Also, I’d like to answer her question about the possibility of rectal exams.

ABSOLUTELY THE NEXT STEP IS THE ENTIRE CAVITY SEARCH OF EVERYONE BEFORE ANYONE CAN BE SAFE wait waht?

  12. Umm…
Not that I approve of inappropriate touching, but just how did this touching happen?

Wear underwear when you travel and expect to go through security, you skank.

  13. @21

I’m assuming we’ll all be traveling nude and hooked into those locking harnesses like they have on roller coasters. Remember, limit your fluids if you plan to fly!
