A former state assistant attorney general has pleaded guilty to impersonating a former neighbor on several adult hook-up websites. The neighbor later received dozens of phone calls from people seeking sex.
From my September 2008 story:
According to court documents, the first incident occurred on Christmas Day 2006, when the victim received a telephone call from a Tacoma couple who claimed they had arranged a meeting on Adult FriendFinder to have sex with her. The couple told the woman that a person claiming to be her had given out her name and phone number to arrange a tryst.
Records say that between 2006 and mid-2008, the woman received between 25 and 30 phone calls from people looking for sex. The calls came from as far away as California, New York, and Florida.
Jonathan Milstein was sentenced to 240 hours of community service earlier today. Milstein has resigned from his position at the attorney general’s office.

Does he automatically lose his license to practice law, or does that happen separately?
I’m not saying jail time would serve the best interest of the community in this case, but it’s a shame they couldn’t have prosecuted this as a felony to limit any decent chance this asswipe will hold a real position of power again.
That happens separately, Trevor. I don’t think that a telephone harassment conviction means automatic disbarment. It’s not a financial crime and doesn’t involve dishonesty, per se. Something like theft would likely result in disbarment, since attorneys must be trusted to handle client funds. Likewise, a perjury charge would likely result in disbarment, because attorneys must be truthful to the tribunal/court. But, telephone harassment or other shenanigans that do not involve one’s practice of law don’t result in such automatic harsh punishments. Don’t get me wrong, I think he is a doucher, but there are plenty of attorneys that get DUIs or assault charges (also douchey) and don’t get disbarred. I would bet that he just gets a suspension, six to twelve months.
@2: A felony charge for a prank call? Please.
But what could possibly be this guy’s motive?
#4 – It was more than “Is Mike Hunt there?”. He targeted a particular female (which he allegedly may have been stalking in person, as well), impersonated her online, and allowed other parties to contact her regarding sex she “agreed to”. The telephone harassment charge seems to address a very small part of what he did, IMO.
Slog never mentions the political affiliation of criminal public ‘servants’ when they are Democrats.
