Glenn Beck guest Michael Scheuer thinks “the only chance we have as a country right now is” for bin Laden to “detonate a major weapon” in the U.S.

Beck’s reaction? He just nods right along, and then allows that he was just “thinking this weekend” about the same thing, and how if HE were bin Laden, attacking the U.S. would be the “last thing he would do,” because that’s just what we want. Osama bin Laden, you see, is way too smart to kill millions of Americans when all that would do is make us kick ass. It all makes perfect sense.

  1. GUYS GUYS!

WOULDN’T IT BE GREAT IF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE DIED SO THEY’D FINALLY SEE HOW JUSTIFIED OUR FEAR MONGERING IS!

    GUYS!

  2. Sick and treasonous, as usual. The right wing is having a nervous breakdown. Maybe Gov. Sanford should help them in religious contemplation.

  3. I nod right along, too, if somebody sitting across from me on the bus starts a lecture along these lines.

If I’m in a flip frame of mind, I may even invite even deeper explication of the guy’s unique insight.

Just like here at the Slog.

  4. @5 However, he’s not across from some nut job on the bus, this is HIS show. If he thinks the guy was wrong he’d better step up and say something otherwise he’s just as crazy as this guy, and I think by this point that’s pretty apparent with Glenn Beck.

  5. Hhhhh. It’s not really the right wing every day americans, except for the ignorant fundamentalists, it’s the fear mongering fake conservative media bullshit machine that’s giving all conservatives a bad name. Glen Beck couldn’t care any less about anything except the size of his paycheck and ratings. People put shit like this on tv to make people mad and stoke the fires of the left right paradigm war when really we all just want what’s best for our country and the freedom that comes with it.

  6. The last thing Beck says in this clip is so painfully ironic – “I was thinking this weekend, that’s the last thing I would do if I was him.”

It’s fucking amazing that THIS IS THE POINT of the Obama administration’s method; to remove Osama’s incentive to attack us. These poor folks – it’s gotta hurt to be that stupid.

  7. Here’s what gets me.

Why would you WANT to be right about this?

Why would you want the world to be the way these people want it to be?

Is it just so they can justify their world view.

  8. The difference being @5, when you’re on the bus you don’t really have too much of a choice when it comes to putting up with the paranoid, treasonous rantings of the person sitting next to you.

Which is really not the same at all as INVITING the ranter to come on your nationally televised talk show and spout their hateful vitriol, particularly when you have a pretty good idea what they’re going to say before they get there.

  9. i’m at a bit of a loss for words. the lack of logic in that discussion approaches an immoral level. glorifying the europeans? seriously? is it 1912 or something? should i be upset at that rascally kaiser? and why is this guy on a first name basis with ‘osama’?

    my head hurts.

  10. The only way to keep America safe is to root for terrorists attacking America! If terrorists attack, then we will be safe from terrorists. If terrorists DON’T attack, we’ll never be safe from terrorists!

  11. The next question Glenn should ask is “So, is it every patriotic American’s duty to aid Osama bin Laden in carrying out a terrorist attack on American soil?”

  12. What they are saying here is that “I want people to die, so that I can be proved right that if we don’t do something, people will die”

Astonishing. And that sums up the lot of them — Cheney, etc.. All of them.

  13. This is the guy who wrote the stupid book that Osama—in one of his video talks to the nation—recommended the world read if they want to understand why he (Osama) is so hopping mad at Americans. THAT’s why Michael Scheuer is on a first-name basis w/ Osama. They both hate America.

  14. Can liberals get over their anti-gun sentiment now? I mean, these are the douchebags that are buying up all the ammo they can find… and for all their talk of “FEMA concentration camps”, they’re the ones that are far more likely to think that camps are good places to put their ideological opponents.

  15. 16 — I want to watch that clip but your link is snipped because you posted anonymously… is there a title for it I can search for or something?

  16. The neoconservative movement is pretty fascinating. Anyone interested should check out the Power of Nightmares BBC documentary. The similarities between neoconservativism and radical Islam are startling, namely the fact that they both are fully reliant on populations being scared shitless.

  17. COMTE @ 12 — Hah! Next you’ll be telling me it’s mere coincidence that the bus routes are designed to stop and pick these people up.

  18. We were attacked when the most right wing president ever had stolen the election. Remember? He had been president for nine months! Fucking incompetent.

  19. Will this be reported anywhere else? Unless this is condemned widely and publicly, there is a segment of the population that is going to continue to think that Fox News is a news channel. This is really close to inciting violence on the public airwaves.

  20. My favorite line from the right is when they remind us that Bush protected us against ANOTHER terrorist attack. That first one didn’t count or sumptin’.

I have no problem with all conservatives; hell I consider myself to be a very liberal conservative sometimes. But the people who buy this shit? They should be gassed.
