The Stranger and Trouble Dicso are—wait for it—proud to present a Pre-Pride Boat Party with DJ Kim Ann Foxman of the band Hercules and Love Affair. The party is on The Islander, a large and lovely party boat that boards down in Eastlake. (Map here.) Boat opens at 9:30 and leaves at 10 for a 3 hour booze-y, dance-y, pride-y cruise. The Trouble Dicso guys will also be DJing (full disclosure: one of the Trouble Dicso guys—the gay one—is my baby daddy) and local dance troupe Dream Weavers will perform something appropriately pride-y. I will also be on board to help kick off pride and—hopefully—summer.
Tickets are $15 and they’re available at www.thestranger.com/boatparty.

Our music writers like Kim Ann Foxman…
“Her DJ crates contain classic house, disco, freestyle, ‘Precious Little Diamond’ by Fox the Fox—pretty much exactly what you’d expect from a Hercules muse andeasily up to the heroic labor of moving a Sunday-night dance floor.”
…and Trouble Dicso:
“Trouble Dicso is a night of top-notch dance music (in this case, primarily nu and classic disco) curated by devoted experts”

This is, like, the second time the phrase “lesbian DJ Kim Ann Foxman” has appeared on here. Is there something limiting or gifted about her being a “lesbian DJ”, as opposed to her being just a DJ?
It reminds me a lot of when someone getting up there says “lady driver” as opposed to “driver”.
Also: Why is there never an effort to identify the sexuality of other DJs?
Is the Stranger sexist?
“lesbian dj” simply means she’s a girl in comfortable shoes.
I thought “lesbian DJ Kim Ann Foxman” was Terry’s stage name.
@2: What Jeff said, except I’d come up with a cumbersome neologism and say gayboycentric. I guess because we’re all reminded that Pride really is all about the boys and the gurls among the boys.
