TONIGHT!
Celebrate 75 years of kicking ass for our civil liberties with the ACLU and Constance McMillen, whose bravery in the face of bias and intimidation is reason enough to kick off your shoes and party. (Cal Anderson Park Meadow and Shelter House, 1635 11th Ave between Pine St. and Olive St., 5:30 to 7 p.m., free)
FRIDAY
Activists from Sensible Washington will assemble in front of the Federal Court House to protest the pending imprisonment of Marc Emery, the so-called Prince of Pot. In an ironic twist, Emery’s chief prosecutor in the case, John MacKay, wrote an op-ed piece last week calling for reform of our nation’s irrational pot laws. (Federal Courthouse, 700 Stewart Street, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
SATURDAY
While religious freaks burn the Koran [cancelled!] to commemorate 9/11, join Mayor Mike McGinn and the Sierra Club for a more productive, less antagonistic show of National Service as they clean up Hamm Creek. (Hamm Creek, 10000 West Marginal Way Place, 9 a.m to noon; Picnic, noon to 1 p.m., free)
SUNDAY
The ACLU (those busy beavers!) is hosting a public forum on the future of Marijuana reform. Calm your angst from Friday’s protest with the soothing voice of Rick Steves and other marijuana policy wonks. (Town Hall Seattle, 1119 8th Ave. at Seneca St., 7 to 9 p.m., free)
MONDAY
City Council meeting regarding the SR 520 project; your opportunity for public comment awaits! (Council Chambers, Seattle City Hall, Floor 2, 600 Fourth Avenue, 2:30 p.m.)
TUESDAY
Drown your City Council related sorrows with the weekly Drinking Liberally event. (Montlake Ale House, 2307 24th Ave east, 8 p.m.)

Very sweet list.
FRIDAY AT 6:30PM AT ST. JAMES CATHEDRAL ON FIRST HILL
Prayer for Religious Tolerance
As the 9th anniversary of September 11, 2001 approaches, Christians are invited to gather at Seattle’s St. James Cathedral this Friday, September 10, at 6:30pm, to pray for a greater awareness and understanding among the world’s religions.
“It is especially important for us to gather as Christian believers to pray for tolerance and understanding,” says Cathedral Pastor Father Michael G. Ryan, “since those who have announced a public Koran burning on Saturday also call themselves Christian. We need to come together to remember that the message of Jesus is compassion, peace, and tolerance.”
The prayer service on Friday evening at 6:30pm in the Cathedral will include music, scripture, silence, and candle-lighting. All are welcome.
The Vatican has publicly condemned the burning of the Koran, the sacred text of Islam, and has called on Christians and Muslims alike to enter into dialogue with each other. We need “to open our hearts to mutual forgiveness and reconciliation, for a peaceful and fruitful coexistence; to recognize what we have in common and to respect differences, as a basis for a culture of dialogue; to recognize and respect the dignity and the rights of each human being without any bias related to ethnicity or religious affiliation; necessity to promulgate just laws which guarantee the fundamental equality of all” (Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, Message for the End of Ramadan, 2010).

But, but NFL Football officially starts tonight! My wife is kicking herself for not being able to get out of work early enough.
There’s also Seattle Bicycle Music Festival all day on Saturday. Starting in Ballard, riding to Denny Park, then Cal Anderson: http://seattlebmp.wordpress.com/see-a-sh…
