TODAY
Paul already told you to go see everyone’s favorite height-challenged Clintonista speak tonight, so all that’s left to advertise is a discussion of plans for fighting invasive plants and conserving native ones in Union Bay. It’s bad: Save Union Bay Association claims 90% of the bay’s plant habitat is choked by invaders. (Center For Urban Horticulture, 3501 NE 41st St, 6:30 p.m., free)
WEDNESDAY
The Disability Community Candidate’s Forum will welcome all manner of candidatesโincumbents like State Speaker Frank Chopp and Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles, but also contenders like 34th district Democrats Joe Fitzgibbon and Mike Heavey and 5th district Dem Greg Hoover. If you feel like you are constantly surrounded by Republicans, this event will be a great sanctuary for you. (University Heights Community Center, Room 209, 5031 University Way NE, 6 to 9 p.m., free including food and non-alcoholic beverages!)
THURSDAY
Ex-NBA star and current Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson will be the latest guest in the Voices from the Education Revolution Speaker Series. Don’t go to this event expecting your tracksuit-wearing high school gym teacher to talk about inspiring kids to give 110%. Johnson actually has a strong record, having “established the St. HOPE Foundation to help inner-city kids get to college through community engagement, quality educational opportunities, and after-school programs.” Oh, and who needs 50 Cent-Chelsea Handler dating rumors when I just learned from Wikipedia that Johnson is engaged to D.C. school reform rockstar Michelle Rhee? Dish-dish-dish, wonk-wonk-wonk! (Mount Zion Baptist Church, 1634 19th Ave, 7 to 9 p.m., free but RSVP here due to limited space)

What?
Nothing on the event on Thursday at Hale’s Ales?
The FREE event?
Northwest Brews and Blues – it’s at 6:30 to 8:30 pm and half the proceeds from O’Brien’s Harvest Ales sold then will go to support Northwest Folklife.
Did I mention the FREE MUSIC part?
(mutters sotto voce)
oh, the forum on Wednesday is on all the 7x series bus lines. Just hop on any 71-74 in the bus tunnel, or take the 49 or 43 from Capitol Hill and you’ll get real close. It’s also on the 30 bus line if you’re coming from Fremont of Seattle Center.
Nothing about the fact that the Sounders are competing for the US Open cup tonight at 7? There’s an enormous ad just to the right!
@1 But Northwest Brews and Blues did not appear in NBA Jam and thus did not play an integral role in my childhood.
@3 So that’s why I saw a Columbus Crew player downtown today. I thought I was crazy for a minute.
@3 yeah, I know, it’s not like it’s a big deal or anything … at least the UW Daily is finally reporting on soccer …
