First off, Inauguration Day!!! Fuck Yeah!!! This Texas girl is in tears! (Sorry my state is backwards beyond words.)
Anywho, I have a small lovely favor to ask you exquisite Slog contributors: The day Obama was elected a Slog contributor posted a page from a Dr. Seuss book. The caption at the bottom of the page says “The blue dog is in. The red dog is out.” It would make me even more giddy and tearful if that picture could be posted again today.
Again, FUCK YEAH!!!! Inauguration Day!!!
It was actually the day before the electionโJoe, who sent it, said, “Let’s hope it is prophetic.” But OF COURSE!!!! Here you go!!!
LATER, red dog! Don’t let the door etc.!!!

also (obviously) not Seuss… but still, hooray!
Was this the inspiration for today’s poem?
Speaking of horndogs…
Anyone caring to take a breather from Inauguration matters might find refreshment in Wm.(tm) Stephen’s wonderful post on the latest in the Portland story of the Mayor and the Manchild (and the Mercury):

I think I’d like to clarify that not all little red dachshunds are “red”. Mine is most certainly “blue”.
And the Eastman story that page is from ends with all dogs of all colors climbing a tree to have a dog party all together at the top. It’s a story of the exclusion on the cited page giving way to a higher, more joyous inclusion.
I <3 this post.
That picture was my Facebook photo for about a week after election day.
Go, Dog. Go! One of my favorite childhood books. The party in the tree at the end made for a party in my pants. I always loved the idea of climbing staircases and ladders to secret, fun, hidden places. What was going on with all those dogs under the foliage, anyway? ๐
@8 Stop italics! STO-O-O-O-P!
