Today Meryl Streep turns 60 years old. I imagine she’s spending the day surrounded by loved ones and saying charmingly self-deprecating things. But don’t let that stop you from worshipping at the altar of Streep.

I’m sorry, but Meryl Streep, great actress though she is, can’t do accents for shit.
This should be a national holiday so we can spend all day watching the Meryl Streep movies we’ve somehow missed out on.
Wow – only six more years and she can retire. Sure hope she’s been making those payments to Social Security.

hmmmm….I’ve been told by a Pole that her Polish in Sophie’s Choice was nearly flawless…and her Oklahoman in Silkwood was fine, too.
but, I’ll defer to Fnarf’s expert, professional judgement as a professional dialectician…
I always rely on Fnarf’s excellent judgment on accents.
Vastly overrated. I never see the character she portrays. I only see Meryl Streep acting.

The Brits bitch about everything and most of THEM can’t do American accents, (Hugh Laurie withstanding).
and thank god she did the Italian accent in Bridges…the only interesting thing in the movie…and if she went against Eastwood’s wishes, good for her…he’s an overrated hack.
Meryl is a goddess and can do no wrong…well, except for that river rafting movie with Kevin Bacon…and She-Devil, which SHE was good in but the rest…oy vey.

As far as all the negative comments on this board about Meryl Streep, I have one thing to say: Jealous and envy will get you people no way in life except a lot of maybe could haves or if only i had done this or that I could have accomplished something. Well, if all of you losers took the time to read Meryl Streep’s biography and acting credits your closed-mindedness about a person’s hard work in many entertaining areas of film for over 30 years would be mind-enlightening and appreciative of Ms. Streep’s talents. Then,maybe,you will get back on this board and give her the repect she truly deserves and wish her a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I agree with all that think Meryl Streep and her accents are the best. I love it when people like fnarf get on this boards and can only voice NEGATIVE RESPONSES. which means that is the only way they see things in life NEGATIVELY……………If you had an ounce of talent as Meryl does fnarf you would yourself be a movie star…………So get a life and shut your negative mouth
