From Christian Nightmares, “Incredibly disturbing footage of so-called Christians and/or Teabaggers spewing hateful insults at Muslims during an anti-Islam protest in California recently,” a scenario seconded by Salon’s Glenn Greenwald:
[L]ast month, in Orange County, California, Tea Party members and other protesters bombarded a charity event sponsored by a Muslim group—and the families of American Muslims entering the event—with the most foul, hateful, threatening messages possible, while various politicians, including a member of Congress, praised the protesters.
Here’s the video:
Horrifying, though some of the edits are slippery, without precise subjects of statements identified. But still, so, so depressing.

curse those nefarious muslims and their never ending schemes to help the homeless!
people fucking suck.
Two words: Orange County.
Fucking nuke the place.
That completely meets the definition of “depressing” as opposed to just “outrageifying” or “annoying”.
That’s just some deeply fucked up and painful shit.
I got as far as “I don’t even care if you think I’m crazy anymore.” That’s about all I needed to hear.
I made it four whole minutes before my eyelid started twitching.
Here’s the Orange County Register’s story on the matter, for folks who want more background. I guess it’s not quite as disheartening if these screaming idiots were a “splinter group”? Maybe? Ugh.

It’s embarrassing and disgraceful to our country. But I’m glad we get to see and hear the real faces of hate in the world. Right wingers are a disgusting bunch of lying thugs.
Horrifying… I am speechless…mother fuckers!
What the fuck is wrong with these people?
I just got to “One Nation under God – Not Allah!”
Er, if you believe that sort of thing, Jahweh = God = Allah.
Clearly what the fuck is wrong with these people is “they are morons”.
The ‘splinter group’ designation does help a bit, making them seem more Westboro/Phelps-like.
But what politician would show up to speak at a Westboro/Phelps rally?
Schmader: The article is saying that the screamers were a splinter group from the main rally.
I marvel at the dignity and grace of the people attending the charity event. How they can keep so calm and quiet while the troglodytes are spewing ignorance and hate is beyond me.
#15.
If Christian Biblical law were in effect, it would be a lot worse than a few burkas. And none of these Muslims (or any other American Muslims for that matter) are advocating for sharia law, and sharia law is about as likely in this country as you defending the free expression rights of anyone who isn’t white and Christian.
It is despicable that these people drape themselves in the American flag.
I grew up in Orange County and this video does not shock me. It fills me full of revulsion, but I am not shocked. The amount of casual, quotidian racism and hate I experienced among my classmates and their parents leaves me expecting nothing better from those sacks of shit.
If there’s a place in America which deserves a taste of the Old Testament God, it’s Orange County. Awful, awful place.
@12/13 – Holding a rally with that much hate, and having any surprise that folks would take the next step, wouldn’t be all that bright. The electeds may try to use that, but their words helped whip those folks into a frenzy.
Perhaps the right-wing nut jobs are aiming their fire at Muslims, hoping the next Tuscon Tragedy doesn’t kill any white folks? And then Americans won’t be so angry?
Fucked up.
The protesters suck big time. They probably moved from LA to Orange county to get away from all the scary scary “diversity” in LA.
What was ridiculous was that the politicians opportunistically fanned the flames of hate. I want to see a politician do his job and remind his constituants about our civil society, free speech and freedom of religion. Cowards, all of them.
Also, Allah IS God, you dumb bitch.
Orange County is a very diverse place, via its Mecca of Suburbanism. Irvine is one of the most racially diverse cities in California, although that doesn’t stop the politics from being very right-wing.
There are parts of Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, and Laguna Beach that are bohemian, but they are far and few between.
Much of north Orange County and pretty much all of south Orange County is like what you see in this video.
Google Barbara Coe, Wally George, and Robert Dornan some time. They make Nixon seem like FDR.
Also, the Orange County Register might as well be a FOX owned newspaper, so I wouldn’t put too much trust in them giving the reader both sides of the story.
Free speech sure is a slippery slope. You know, if I lived in a country that didn’t allow it I would never be able to say how much I’d like to invite all those protesters over to my house for a big dinner, poison them and transport the lot by ship over to that big garbage whorl out in the Pacific Ocean where their rotting carcasses could be picked over by scavengers.
Just sayin’.
