Most of the tasks we interns at The Stranger perform are seemingly designed to make our eyes bleed from staring at a computer screen too long. One of these tasks is curating the events calendar.
Occasionally, however, we find an event so joyful that our spirits are lifted between eye-bleedings and Friday floggings. This Monday at the Jefferson Park Lawn Bowling Club, Seattle City Council Member Tim Burgess will be enjoying “some late summer lawn bowling and [finding] out whatโs important to Beacon Hill residents.” Which begs the question: Is anything really more important than lawn bowling?
I’ll be covering the event in my Sunday best. Food and beverages provided. PARTY!

The beatings will continue until morale improves, you know.
Enjoy the look on Burgess’ face when you tell him you are working for the Stranger. No amount of scooter-riding will make him like you after that.
Tim Burgess rides a Vespa Granturismo 200. Or at least he owns it. Invite him to ride with you…
as long as Kim Burgess won’t be there, I’m in.
as long as I don’t have to wrestle Kim Burgess again, I guess it’s cool.
