@ 3, Get out of here, he wasn’t a lousy historian. A polemicist, sure. Did he stray from the fidelity of typical God pros found in standard historical writings, yes. But he was always open about his angle and biases. More importantly, he didn’t make stuff up.
A provocative essayists like Zinn makes important contributions to our understanding of history. There is a strong difference between people who form a strong provocative argument based on historical facts and someone who uses non sequitur emotional appeals. It’s a distinction that needs to made – especially these days.
No history book is the end all. But A People’s History gives voice to the disenfranchised which I appreciate. I’m personally grateful for his contributions.
