Especially powerful, sexy Czech ladies celebrating a sweep of 44 seats (out of 200) in their state parliament. How do Czech women celebrate their political victories, you ask? Pillowfight! By posing sexy for a charity calendar. Hurrah!
But, BUT: Couldn’t they have found sexy poses that had something to do with their jobs, since as Miss September says, “‘We want to draw attention to the fact that we have women in politics”? Perhaps instead of brushing her teeth sexy, Miss September could be writing a sexy letter to an angry constituent.

- Brush your teeth, it’s the law.
Or instead of taking a sexy bath, Miss April could be seductively glad-handing the dirty masses outside of a library or college.

- Politics is dirty.
Because as it stands, they’re not really drawing attention to women and politics, they’re drawing attention to women and hygiene, which deserves its own sexy calendar.

I’m sorry, I know you said something, but I spaced what it was.
Are you sure you’re not Charles?
And to think, Sarah Palin is what passes for a hot female politician in the U.S. What the fuck is wrong with this country?
P.S. Click on your link, Cienna – the first (and sexiest, in my opinion) hottie Czech politician is going about the very serious, pro-feminist business of reading a book.
what is in the water over there? could we have that instead of flouride?
@2 reading a book…. in thigh high stockings and a negligee.
omg they’re CRAZY HOT. i thought maybe you picked the two most attractive ones, and all the others were more angela-merkel- or hillary-clinton-esque. but NO. all hot. wow
Why can’t women be respected, effective legislators and flaunt their hot bods? The tone of this post is bitter.
They do appear to be slightly younger than the average age of North American elected politicians. Is this a reflection on the expectations a candidate must first demonstrate before serving the public here — foreclosing in the process most younger candidates on basis (or perception) of inexperience?
The overarching statement seems to be that we don’t really want older people to be attractive, but we also don’t really want younger people to be experienced or at least have the savvy expected only from an elder.
@4: Woof!
Unless they were coerced into this endeavor, it’s fine. I bet they serve the Czech public at least as well as the potato-faced guys in cheap suits that are the normal fare.
@6: Reading comprehension fail. Please try again.
@4 yowza
“Critics have said the calendar will emphasise stereotypes”
What, the stereotype that sexy women are sexy?
I think it’s insane that a women has to be perceived as sexless in order to be taken seriously. And I think the calendar is fine. The politicians in it want to raise awareness of women in politics, and clearly to them part of womanhood is sexiness. Would you take Madeleine Albright less seriously if she was a stunning beauty? If so, doesn’t that say more about you than about her?
On a related note, here is a Czech lady standing up to Anthony Bourdain’s star power:

Nobody serves up roadside nookie like the Czechs.
blah blah I’m a faggot and I’m not supposed to notice such things blah… but damn!
(actually Czech guys are often this hot too…but I can only speak of their gay-for-pay porn stars and those who’ve made it to Chicago, so I know not of their politicians)
But can we get back to the whole Sarah Palin aspect to this? Because really — this means she can’t even do ‘hot for a politician’, right? She truly is an epic failure.
@6, Um, I agree with you–I just think the calendar lacked artistic direction. If the point is to create a sexy calendar of female politicians, make it obvious that they’re politicians, instead of just sexy women. I have no idea how you read ‘bitter’ in my post.
@15, Sarah Palin could never compete with these women. She’s not even fit for Miss March, traditionally the ugliest month in the calendar cycle. It’s just another indicator of how she will never be a real politician.
I realize they’re all in the calender for a reason, but I think it’s better not to conflate their job and photo shoot theme… it’d just be so literal, and probably for many of their co-workers, too much of a gift and potentially a distraction. Let’em be sexy women that also happen to hold office, not—seemingly—pin-ups that got elected.
