I don’t want to speculate much about the new Google phone that Google has apparently been giving to employees, and may (or may not) be for sale in January, and may (or may not) be un-connected to any specific carrier, and may be (and probably is) pretty fucking cool.
I do want to point out how awesome it is that they used a Bladerunner reference to name it, though. It’s called the Nexus One*. Get it? Android? Nexus?
2010 may be the year the Super Phone wars really get going. Should be good times.
* May not be the actual name, but it apparently identifies itself that way in user agent strings.

Great, I’ll be constantly worrying / waiting for it to say “My mother? Let me tell you about my mother!”
I’m waiting for the Nexus 7 too. Looks and fucks like Sean Young? Sure better than a Realdoll. Too bad it only lasts 4 years, but then again, most of my relationships don’t last that long anyhow.
please, please, please tell me this isnt true! i was just about to buy a droid!
Six of the phones have recently been reported missing…
I’ve got one, and it’s unbearably awesome.
And yeah, the gift box said “Nexus One”. As in “I want more life, fucker”.
Fuck. I just bought a damn Droid.
I just got my iPhone and have to say that it really rocks. I looked at the droid as well and thought it was too clunky; and oddly what you would expect from Motorola.
This is great. My current contract ends in April and I’m really itching to pick up a non-iPhone touchscreen. There are already a few rad-ass phones out there, and all of the major manufacturers have at least one I’m drooling over. The deal-maker for me though is going to be apps, which is what Apple has done very well with in terms of generating interest IMO.
@8 the appstore will undoubtedly be the Android app store.
It’s decent, has all the apps you’d expect a decent app store to have (Pandora, pretty great Twitter client, nextbus tracker, etc), but not the million random ones like the iPhone (e.g. there’s no Gawker app). So for example I’m sad it doesn’t have a Papers app. Though maybe if everyone buys Droids and Nexuses it’ll get as good/better.
One cool thing is there’s no restriction on what apps you can install like with Apple. if something’s not in the market you can just download it off the internet somewhere else.
@4- Don’t worry, I’ve recovered all five of the missing phones.
Sincerely:
Deckard
Wake-up! Time to dial!
For all bike nerds, you can already get a Nexus 3, Nexus 5, or Nexus 7 internally geared rear hub from Shimano. As far as I know, they never made a Nexus 6.
At least, that’s what they tell us.
