A few commentors have asserted that Slog has, in the last few weeks, become a buzzing hive of overwhelming homoness, what with all of Dan’s DOMA/DADT/Obama rants, the painfully frequent Sounders posts, and Paul Constant’s Reading Tonight nonsense.
As the resident hetero insurgent here on Slog, it is my duty to post this video of a nearly naked woman fishing for bass.
Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I ask you:

Oh for crying out loud. “She’s too skinny!” “Stickgirl needs a sammich!” I guar-an-fucking-tee that if the girl ate a sammich there’d be an even louder hew and cry about her being fat, having cellulite in weird places, blahdy-fucking-blah.
I’m already missing ECB.
Slog’s not too gay. But that wasn’t much of a fish.
Can’t you come up with some chicks catching trophy pike?
That didn’t give me a boner at all.
The problem isn’t that Slog is aggressively gay; that’s nothing new. The problem is that it consists almost entirely of posts about Dan Savage’s newfound loathing of Obama. We get it! Seriously! Just come back when you have something new to add to your already well-understood anger, Dan.
I’ll still take angry gays over doctrinaire feminist bike Nazis, though. Not missing ECB at all.
More lesbians would be great, I think. And if you’re going to be throw in some hetero bits, which I wholeheartedly endorse, for Christ’s sake find some women with tits/curves. The chick in this video would more appropriately be found in the “thinspiration” section of some sad girl’s Ana blog. Ugh.
@28 please provide a quote
Slog is way too gay. I was going to say something yesterday but I Seattle nice’d out and didn’t. But since the cheap sake is giving me courage I’m just going to say how I feel: You guys need to hire a few straight, attractive people with some seriously good snark ability. I like Dan and all. I do. Keep most of the gay stuff…it represents a lot of your demographic. But just take out about 1/2 of the Dan issues and inject a little Gawker/Wonkette current events with a positive tone kinda shit. You guys would get a huge boost in readership, I guarantee you. Right now, Seattle is just waiting for news blog to really appeal to everyone. Something SeattleST could have been…or could be. Whatever.
I hope that made sense. But if it didn’t, I don’t care. I’m drinking sake and watching Swingers alone on a Friday night, after all. Cheers everyone.
I AGREE FRIECY FRAUD IS A GREAT NAME FOR OBAMA WHO AS BROUGHT AND PAID FOR AT LEAST ON CAPITOL HILL BY NONE OTHER THAN DAN OBAMAPOLOGIST SAVAGE ANDHIS R PLACE MAFIA WELL GUESS WHOS LAUGHING NOW DAN IT AINT YOU AND IT AINT ME HONESTLY AT LEAST WITH MCCAIN WED KNOW WHAT WE WERE UP AGAINST AND IT ISN’T LIKE YOUR GOD HAD DONE ANYTHING TO SAVE SACRED QUEER SPACE ON THE HILL LOOK AT WHATS HAPPENING TO SLAUGHTERS SOME PROSPERITY HUH WELL THATS LIFE ALL I CAN SAY IS THE FQTBLG COMMUNITY HAS A LONG MEMORY SO DONT EXPECT A LOT OF HUGS ON PRIDE DAY OH NO YOULL BE DOWNTOWN SOMEPLACE RITZLY LIKE THE RED LION NOT IN THE TRADITIONAL QUEER SPACE THANKS A LOT FOR THAT ALSO
@4, @8, @18, and probably others..
Isn’t it interesting how living in America makes you so desensitized to being constantly surrounded by fat people that the sight of a normal-sized human being makes you cry out “OMG anorexic!” ?
Am I a horrible person for thinking skinny people are just as attractive as other people? We all have different traits. We skinny people have feelings too.
Look, I’m straight, but I don’t write about being straight from the time I get up til the time I go to bed, all day, every day, ad infinitum. Just write about something else for a change once in a while. Sheesh.
We are not crying “omg, anorexic!” just because she isn’t obese. People are voicing their concern that she is too thin. And, she is indeed, too thin. She looks unhealthy. Arguably, a healthy woman’s body does not have flared out hipbones and a cavernous gap between their legs.
It bothers me that this is what Slog posts for “straight men”. Some straight men do like thin women, and some lesbians do like thin women. But this makes it seem like all straight men will be sttracted to thin women.
Also, I don’t think the Slog thought about this being possibly triggering for people with a history of eating disorders.
“Also, I don’t think the Slog thought about this being possibly triggering for people with a history of eating disorders.”
Oh, for God’s sake. I wouldn’t leave my dogs with Slog. (No offense, dears) Now we’re supposed to worry about people with eating disorders?
If you want a sexy, non-skinny woman, just look at Joan from Mad Men. She’s enough to make me cross the street, if you know what I mean….

Yeah, sorry. I love all teh gays, but yeah. Too gay.
If SLOG is too gay, y’all can go read the other 95% of the internet.
I think the nearly-constant use of my face and other hetero girls to advertise for Lovelab helps balance out the amount of gay. Obviously they are targeting a straight male populous that loves cute girls! But maybe these straight men are not just here to look at cute girls and would also like to read about cute girls! But not all the time, Seattle men should also be comfortable with reading and supporting gay/lesbian stuff.
“OBAMAPOLOGIST

Posted by PISSED OFF QUEER”
It’s so sad when conservatives pretend to be gay to tar both liberals and gays. Yeah, we know. You don’t like either. But you’re pretty obviously some sort of dumb troll.
I thought the girl in the video was lovely, and not underweight. I don’t think there is a body type that can satisfy everyone.
“Now we need to worry about people with eating disorders, too?”
That was incredibly insensitve. Yes, actually, as a human being you do have the duty to care for one another—that includes mental disorders.
On another note, people are allowed to be attracted to whatever body type they want. Straight men can like skinnny women, heavier women, curvy women. Gay men can like skinnny men, muscle clad men, heavier men. IT DOESN’T MATTER.
In other news, no, the Slog isn’t too gay. If you think it’s too gay, read the posts you like and that aren’t “too gay” for you and quit complaining.
Maybe, if this woman were also drinking some good whisky, and smoking a cigar (preferably Cuban), THEN I might find this post slightly less Gay, but as it is – eh.
Oh, and throw in some NASCAR – that’s pretty much guaranteed to unGay just about anything…
Ha! I got post #69 – totally UnGay!
@60 FTW!
Sorry but 52/80 nailed this one.
Look, I’m straight, but I don’t write about being straight from the time I get up til the time I go to bed, all day, every day, ad infinitum. Just write about something else for a change once in a while. Sheesh.
I come to SLOG to read about alt things in Seattle. From the upcoming architecture and building plans (by far my favorite series thanks Dom!), to new eats and treats from the ladies, the MJ legalization crusade, to picking on bike crusaders of all shapes and sizes.
But this over the top non stop gay shit has become incessantly tiring. Yes the Stranger is going to have some gayness.. no biggie.. but let’s not define the entire place solely on GLBT issues…
mmmm k?
Bring on some Solstice Parade nekkid bike rider coverage damnit! 🙂
@ 58, if you think this girl is “normal” sized, guess what, it’s not the rest of us who can see all her ribs who are having trouble perceiving what is healthy and what is not.
@72
F. T. W.
‘Nuff said.
On-topic: gay, lesbian, straight, anything…seriously, it’s all good. If somebody’s too one-sided in their postings for you, well, don’t read them, and don’t even waste calories getting worked up about it. There’s too good stuff going on out there (and some bad stuff that needs dealing with) for that.
She isn’t unhealthy skinny. You don’t know anything about her eating and exercise habits. Some people are just skinny. And btw skinny doesn’t equal sexy. I don’t find her sexy.
I am 6 feet tall and 140 pounds and in great health. I eat a balanced diet and am very physically active. Skinny is trait that runs in my family. I have the greatest sympathy for those who have trouble losing weight because I know from my own experience that there is no way to fight against your body’s determination to be a certain size. I could no more gain 20 pounds than grow another arm.
@ 74 I hear ya. I am 5’7, 28 yrs and female. I weighed 107 lbs until a little over 2 yrs ago (finally began gaining a bit of weight- yay!) and I know what its like to get picked on for being thin. For me personally, its not the thinness of this gal that is the turn off- its the lack of any type of butt that is a so-called sexy video anomaly. I was a stick as well until I turned 22, then my butt bubbled out (I have a nice round high-perched butt on two looong creamy legs) and I felt much more sexy. That is the reason I made my comment “WHERES THE ASS!” Even some of those Twiggy wanna-bes from Top Model got more booty than that. If you want to post a video that is visually stimulating, please post something sexier. Not that her ass makes her more or less of a pretty woman (plenty of gorgeous women with flat rears), its just that some type of muscle tone or ass bump would be sexier than no curves at all.
# 71 & # 60 “Look, I’m straight, but I don’t write about being straight from the time I get up til the time I go to bed, all day, every day, ad infinitum. Just write about something else for a change once in a while. Sheesh” Of COURSE you don’t write about being straight! Everything – EVERYTHING – BLOODYABSOLUTELYEVERYTHING !!!!!! in your world affirms straightness. You live in a heteronormative paradigm where it is ASSUMED that everyone is straight, is happy with the gender assigned to them at birth, and has Victorian middle class respectable values!!!!! Not only that, considerable pressure is exerted to make sure everything and everyone remains straight – or at least in stays in the closet. I LOVE the Slog BECAUSE it is gay – very few places in this world are liek that. I cherish SLOG…….my only request would be more coverage of B and T issues.
@76, my gay friends have been saying the exact same thing to me for the last 30 years, and I call bullshit on it.
There are a million things that happen every day in this world that have absolutely nothing to do with sexual orientation. The sun comes up. The war in Afghanistan goes on. People launch rockets to the moon. Tornados destroy trailer parks. Fat women get stuck to toilet seats. If you can’t look at those things without putting on your “gay-colored glasses,” well, then, I guess I feel sorry for you. Life isn’t straight; life isn’t gay. It just is, and it will avoid any attempt you may make to stuff it into a pigeonhole to make it more convenient for you.
@ 74, when you can see the bones like that, it’s unhealthy skinny.
Not too gay at all. Although I wish Dan would moderate his tone–he’s a much more effective leader when he’s at his relaxed, charming, and logical best. Lately he’s been so shrill… Up until about a month ago I thought he was the ideal spokesman for teh geys, but now? Dunno.
@ 78,
I’m going to disagree. I have that woman’s build, and I’ve never been pronounced unhealthy or too skinny at a physical. I eat a balanced diet, and I exercise everyday. I’m athletic, and my body fits my lifestyle. I know my body type isn’t the ideal for everybody, but it’s ideal for running, biking, rock climbing, white water rafting, hiking, dancing, and guitar playing, and thus is ideal for me. You’d be surprised how strong I am and how much I can lift. Lucky for me, I’m married to a man who’s built just like me.
The way I wrote my last comment was probably offensive, but I stand by the content: This girl does not look even slightly underweight or unhealthy.
There are plenty of girl who have more weight who are very attractive; there are plenty of girls with her build who are attractive. People come in different shapes and sizes and have different ideals of what constitutes attractive.
To say that someone has to be at least slightly overweight to be considered sexy is just as ridiculous and offensive as saying that all girls should have Barbie doll shapes to be attractive.
@ 80, after a second viewing I stand corrected. She doesn’t have visible ribs or jutting collarbone that usually would appear to be underweight. I’m probably not used to seeing thin girls like that. I’ll blame the bikini – it’s not the most flattering fit. 😉
@ 81, see paragraph above, with the added clarification that I (personally) don’t believe that women have to be any particular weight or body type to be attractive. I’m sure you were addressing the commenters at large…

Well now – a straight boy – with the amazing power to tell us more about being gay that gay guys …hmmmm?
Oh, the real bulllshit of your posts …
Oh. I thought Slog was intended to be a gay blog. You mean it’s not?
@82,
yes, you’re right – I wasn’t intending to address anyone in particular. just clarifying my position.
I enjoy slog, but I have come to view it as a gay male blog. I assumed this was your target audience?
Sometimes reading slog makes me feel like a bit of a fag hag, like maybe I should find an entertainment/current events blog whose content is more relevant to a horny *female*.
Testing. Ignore please.
