This is why scientists are the worst at being fooled by psychics and paranormalists. They lack that basic skepticism; their data are never actively trying to fool them.
This is why I basically just ignore the internet on 4/1.

It’s pretty adaptive for scientists, when confronted with a new idea, to initially consider the implications if it is true. Only after that initial pause for a new concept does the skepticism come crashing in.
For me, that pause is apparently about ten seconds. ;p
You should read James Randi on the use of gullible scientists to promote the reputations of charlatans and con men. Takes a crook to catch a crook. You scientists are too honorable.
