  1. I almost got taken in by that too, but my intern Mary Cheney told me it was a hoax.

So, hey, what’s up with this I hear about you folks back in Seattle having snow today? This is the first chance I’ve had to post all day (lunch break at a wired bistro near 15th) in my new job at Treasury as the Undersecretary for Expectation Adjustment.

Is it true? Did it really snow?

  2. This is why scientists are the worst at being fooled by psychics and paranormalists. They lack that basic skepticism; their data are never actively trying to fool them.

  3. Fnarf:

It’s pretty adaptive for scientists, when confronted with a new idea, to initially consider the implications if it is true. Only after that initial pause for a new concept does the skepticism come crashing in.

For me, that pause is apparently about ten seconds. ;p

  4. You should read James Randi on the use of gullible scientists to promote the reputations of charlatans and con men. Takes a crook to catch a crook. You scientists are too honorable.
