Behold as one Fox News contributor connects the dots between a J. Crew ad that depicts a loving mother painting her son’s toenails pink (because he enjoys it) to brown people bleaching their skin so they can “playact as Caucasians” to the end of the human race as we know it:
The fallout is already being seen… Girls beat up other girls on YouTube. Young men primp and preen until their abdomens are washboards and their hair is perfect. And while that may seem like no big deal, it will be a very big deal if it turns out that neither gender is very comfortable anymore nurturing children above all else, and neither gender is motivated to rank creating a family above having great sex forever and neither gender is motivated to protect the nation by marching into combat against other men and risking their lives.
We’re doomed—thanks a lot J. Crew. I guess there’s nothing left to do but go punch a woman and then motorboat some abs.

If the woman being punched is Snooki, I’m all for it.
I’m not comfortable nurturing children, and I truly do not care that you think I’m broken because of that. Live and let live, motherfuckers.
It will be a super very big deal if neither gender is motivated to get the nutrients the body needs from food and instead decides to eat nothing but delicious concrete.
WHY ARE YOU FORCING US TO EAT CONCRETE J.CREW!!!
Well, considering that world population is 6.7+ Billion people, and the American lifestyle is creating the worst climate-change-enhancing pollution in the world, then perhaps ranking “Great Sex Forever” (forever? awesome!) over having more car-driving mouths to feed isn’t such a bad idea.
And considering that the US has only engaged in dubious -even illegal- military adventures in the last couple of decades, I’d say that “marching into combat against other men and risking their lives” is dumb-ass idea.
Remember, the US military is made up largely of poor men with few other options in life. We’re “fighting” some pretty unpopular wars right now (hell, we’ve been in Iraq for like 20 years now, what with Bush I & II’s adventures)… would it surprise anyone that an incidental benefit of the current economic recession is that it reinforces the pool of poor people desperate enough to join the Army?
Anyway, I like washboard abs.
Because everyone is just like what you see in advertising…..
I know that fake outrage sells big in a country where everyone wants to be a victim, and that victimzation is what fuels conservatism, but still – just a cursory glance at the world around them should tell this fox contributor that there is not an epidemic of washboard abs, pink toenails on boys or girls fighting girls.
Amazingly reading about how freaked out the right is by our liberal pink toenailed boys and butchy girls has been the first news story that I’ve smiled at all day. If we’re actually starting to blur gender lines in a noticeable way, I’m super stoked. Also the little pink loving boy is real cute (so much for throwing away my female nurturing ways, I guess a few years of culture hasn’t undone those millions of years of mammalian evolution that makes me want to care for young.)
The comments on that article are surprisingly quite critical of the author. Many commenters wrote something about their own kids playing dress-up and how it doesn’t have to mean anything.
“Whoa. Going overboard with the hyperbole here, aren’t we, Keith? My three year old used to like to wear his sister’s old pink shoes around the house and I let him do it until his feet got too big. He’s now ten years old, all boy and wants to be a policeman like his dad. Kids go through phases–there’s no point in overreacting. “
Wow, that is the first Fox News comments page where the majority of comments weren’t horrible racist agreements.
That full article was hilarious. “Facebook, prozac, youtube, buzzwords, etc.”
@6 – “between 1991 and 2003 American ground troops were not present in Iraq in any significant number”. “Significant number”? You mean less than one? Or more than one? Anyone?
More to the point: Enforcing two “no fly zones”, encompassing half the land mass of Iraq, from 1991 to 1998 (which actually meant random bombing sorties of anything deemed worth of bombing by the US) counts as “insignificant”? Ok, ok, you DID say “ground” troops. But I did not in my original post. — Oh, wait, we continued the NFZ’s into the 2000’s as well! (*Surprised face*)
Note: “While the enforcing powers had cited United Nations Security Council Resolution 688 as authorizing the operations, the resolution contains no explicit authorization. Secretary-General of the UN Boutros Boutros-Ghali called the no-fly zones “illegal”” Are you actually saying we weren’t “in” Iraq despite the US Air Force’s continual (bombing) presence?
What does “naïve” mean again? And also, how does “patriotism” enter into supporting illegal wars that kill 100’s of 1000’s of civilians?
Pink vs. Blue.
In 1918, an article in Ladies’ Home Journal stated: “The generally accepted rule is pink for the boys, and blue for the girls. The reason is that pink, being a more decided and stronger color, is more suitable for the boy, while blue, which is more delicate and dainty, is prettier for the girl.”
What color gender?
I laugh at the concept of “tradition”. HA!
Makes me want to paint my son’s toenails pink.
