I was on the bus this morning reading the October 20 New Yorker, when I came across an article by John fuckin’ Updike. After the Sherman Alexie piece, every time I see that name my mind fills in the middle. I can’t stop it.

He had a small byline in the PI entertainment section today. I was reading the reviews in there and said HO DERE the writing just got real good all of a sudden! Fucking Updike beyond all recognition.
Updike will be at Arts and Lectures on Wednesday.
I used to think of a character (I’m not going to say) when I would see your name, but now all I can think of is Jane Austen. You should post more.
That’s funny, because that’s how I feel about Sherman Fucking Alexie.
