Join Stranger staffers tomorrow night at Vermillion for the new-and-improved Tom Skerritt Happy Hour, starring Tom Skerritt!
Meet all your favorite Slog commenters! Tell your favorite Stranger staffers how unqualified they are for their jobs (but how much you love them anyway)! Gather ’round with cheap drink specials and $3 sloppy joes as Skerritt shares ghost stories from his days spent working on the sets of Poltergeist III, Alien, Parent Trap, and Microsoft’s Windows Vista operating system (spooky!).
Then toast in awe as Skerritt engages in staring contests with wood-grain tables (and beats the motherfuckers, too).
Tomorrow, June 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Vermillion Gallery and Wine Bar (1508 11th Ave).

For fuck’s sake, he’s a legend. Anybody read that a TV actor named James Arness passed away at 88 last week? Appeared in every episode of “Gunsmoke”, which ran weekly for twenty years?
IMDB tells me Tom Skerritt was in episodes of “Gunsmoke” in 1965, 1966, 1970, and 1972. So there.
Are you coming Gus?
@1, Tom Skerritt also played a bit cop role in Harold and Maude. DON’T YOU LECTURE ME ABOUT LEGENDS.
wisepunk, I’d love to, but see @3 for a classic example of what a lightning rod I am. I shout out “for fuck’s sake, he’s a legend!” so Cienna thinks I’m picking on her again and hurls her drink at me yelling “don’t lecture me, ladyboy!” then suddenly poor Tom Skerritt’s got his arm in a sling the next six weeks.
I want you guys to have a fun, arrest-free night, so I’ll stay home and watch “Local Hero”.
@4 Lol, excuses, excuses, sir. Believe you’re doing us a favor by depriving us of your presence if you wish, but it’s still a lie.
At least Fnarf’s excuse of fearing for his sanity in case WiS shows up is a little more reasonable (even though we haven’t seen Will at any of the unofficial ones this year that I recall).
Well, for the record @5, I think tomorrow will only be, like, the second official SLOG Happy this year…
There hasn’t been an official one since the X-Mas gift exchange, pretty sure.
Well I for one will certainly be there. I am right now this minute getting my hair done so I will be pretty enough for all y’all. 🙂
@ 4 – I LOVE ‘Local Hero’!!
It’s one of the few movies I have to see just about yearly. And, I’m abashed to say, it’s one of my ‘test’ movies for potential movie-pals… as in “Do you pass the ‘Local Hero’ test?”
😀
@9, hooray! I heard my all-time favorite bit of “Local Hero” trivia not a month ago: Ewan McGregor’s uncle played the innkeeper. Seeing him onscreen got young Ewan thinking “yep, that’s for me”.
Hey ladyboy lightning rod,
I throw drinks at everyone I like. Anyone who’s ever met me knows that. People I don’t care for I generally ignore, like an adult.
