The Swedish government wants to extradite him on sexual assault charges, and there is political pressure in the U.S. to charge him with espionage, but now WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has a new and more fearsome adversary to beware of: PETA!

“Julian was constantly battling for dominance, even with my tomcat Herr Schmitt,” Domscheit-Berg says in his book “Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange at the World’s Most Dangerous Website.”

“Ever since Julian lived with me in Wiesbaden he (the cat) has suffered from psychosis. Julian would constantly attack the animal. He would spread out his fingers like a fork and grab the cat’s throat.”

The monster! If that doesn’t qualify Assange for Gitmo, I don’t know what does.

  1. With everyone and their grammaw trying to find a way to tell something fresh about Assange, here’s a story from yesterday I hope Reuters got wrong:

Assange’s private characterizations of the Bank of America material as being dated and difficult to interpret contrasts with inflammatory public statements he has made — some as recently as last month — touting the significance of bank-related materials WikiLeaks has been planning to publish.

  2. Wiki-what? Who cares about government and corporate accountability? This man is a monster. Let’s talk about him instead.

I have it on a very good second-hand source that Assange punches babies right in their adorable little faces. Also, he doesn’t recycle.

  3. He would spread out his fingers like a fork and grab the cat’s throat

I used to have hand fights with my boy cat all the time, but grabbing it by the throat? That’s mean and kind of weird. I’m beginning to think Assange may in fact have some psychological problems.

  4. Wretched @10,

I spent half the day close reading a Seattle Times editorial. I earned my right to make a cheap, lazy joke at PETA’s expense.

  5. #13: You make fun of PETA for its sexist marketing, not because they’re against animal cruelty, unless you’re a social conservative. Are you one of the elusive social-conservative, fiscal-liberals?
