Tim Killian, one of the first candidates to announce for Seattle City Council, is “suspending” his campaign due to “pressing family matters,” according to an email.

Haven’t heard any more from Killian about what those family matters are, but I hope everything turns out OK, and I’m sad to see him bow out of the race.

In other city-politics news, rumor has it that James Donaldson, the first person to file for council, is getting ready to switch to the mayor’s race. Meanwhile, council member Tim Burgess is reportedly going through a “thoughtful, adult process” to decide whether he can amass enough support to challenge Greg Nickels, according to a source.

  1. Tim Burgess was a pretty weak candidate for city council, and only got in because his opponent was worse. I’m not a big fan of Nickels, but Nickels would slaughter Burgess. It will take someone with a lot more gravitas than Burgess to unseat Nickels.

  2. James Donaldson is much better in the low post than Tim Burgess. But both of them would have to get by the mayor–the round mound of rebound!

  3. Burgess is pure ego and media PR stuff

He has voted against nothing – to keep it all cheery on the council

Nickel will cream him – but – Burgess has money resources too

What political experience prepares him to run the city? Nothing but hype and gray goat grins.

Only Peter S. can beat Greg N. – only – but, maybe the gay guy, Ed Marry.

  4. I assume he dropped out because he slept with a barely-legal teenager of his attractive sex, right? I mean, that’s the only real reason people drop out of political races these days, at least in the Pacific northwest.
