I’m going to tell my sister all the cool serious readers are buying this now. She will buy one. Then I can snatch it from her hands and fling it frisbee-style out the window while she shrieks. Awesome.
why on earth does a book need a keyboard?
it looks like a lot of wasted space
The Kindle is the most boring tech toy ever.
Anthony: It’s the Guide!
I think it’s exciting. A new Kindle being released puts us one step closer to a color Kindle, which will be one of the coolest gadgets of all time. Also, I want a boxbot!
pregunta, the keyboard is for searching through amazons store for more books. Right on the device. No need to use a regular computer. Wasted space? Possibly. But I think the feature is a nice touch. However, I just don’t think the tech is all the way there yet.
@2 why on earth does a book need a keyboard?
1) to type notes, to search, to do many other things
2) that lower space is where your hand would go. even if there were no keyboard there would still be that space.
Must be nice to be rich like the staff of the Stranger.
I couldn’t believe how light that thing looked when Jeff Bezos brought one to the Daily Show. I still have very little practical use for it, but I kind of want one anyway.
Anything that makes an ipod look cheap is too damn expensive.
Remember, Kindle is just another way of never having to say you’re sorry for “reading” with only one hand.
Oh, like you didn’t know where all the money is …
Our studio gave all 150 of us a Kindle each at our Christmas party. They’re actually kinda cool…
So, seriously, how does that electronic paper feel when you read it – do you have angle problems holding it, and has anyone dropped it in the tub?
Sometimes technology gives us – nothing.
I’m “reading” with one hand right now (in another browser window).
oh you naughty puppy …
I’m waiting for the glasses that can read the Kindle for me.
@13 – It honestly feels pretty much like a real piece of paper sitting behind a piece of plastic. There are no angle issues at all, it looks from any angle the way a piece of paper looks from that angle. The background of the “paper” isn’t white, though, it’s a bit gray. I don’t take baths.
I guess they’re pretty cool, but be sure to send us a photo of it in the garbage when it’s obsolete.
