The basic, tragic facts: Last Friday night, after attending the Sounders game, Troy Wolff and Kristin Ito were walking through Pioneer Square when a man suddenly attacked Ito with a knife, stabbing her repeatedly in the torso until Troy Wolff rushed to her aid, at which point he was also stabbed multiple times. Upon being rushed to the hospital, Kristin Ito was listed in serious condition and Troy Wolff was pronounced dead. (The 44-year-old suspect remains jailed for investigation of murder, and has a history of serious mental illness.)
About Troy Wolff: He was a very well-liked Seattleite who served as chairman of the English Department at Shoreline Community College, where he’d taught for 17 years. As Barfly, former member of the band the Saturday Knights wrote about Wolff on Facebook:
For 15 years of Seattle music, he was the polite, upstairs neighbor who never complained about the racket. IQU, TSK and countless other bands all began downstairs from Troy’s patient ear. Basement rehearsals and recordings still go on to this day. It’s never going to be the same in this house without St. Professor Troy.
