This picture doesn’t quite do the mob at Cafe Presse last Friday night justice. People were standing three and four deep, the waiters could barely make their way through the crowd, the kitchen nearly ground to a halt. And no one cared. We waited patiently for our food and our drinks, the crowd was polite, and we over-tipped the waiters. And the scene here at Cafe Presse reminded me of a comment left earlier today on Eli’s post listing area drinking-and-debate-watching parties tonight:

This is a debate between two men who are vying to become the president of a nation which is in pretty shaky shape at the moment. It would seem that the things they have to say, and the ability to concentrate on those things, would, or should, be rather high on the importance scale.

This being the case, can someone tell me why anyone whose main concern should be finding a place to be able to drink, party and blog during it should be taken even remotely seriously in any way?

And we were packed in here to watch the debate and, just as importantly, to watch the debate with a crowd.
