Neo-Nazi white supremacist Jeff Hall taught his son well:

Mr. Hall, who led a chapter of the group in Riverside, Calif., east of Los Angeles, had predicted that his political activities — in a world rife with hatred, suspicion and violence — would lead to his demise.

“I want a white society,” Mr. Hall said. “I believe in secession. I believe in giving my life for secession.”

What he could never have expected was that his death might come at the hand of his son, whom he was steeping in his beliefs of white supremacy and its obsessions with weapons, racist speech and Nazi regalia.

Police believe that Hall’s 10-year-old son intentionally shot his father with a handgun as he lay sleeping on a living room couch. I feel sorry for the boy.

  1. Where did the handgun come from? Was it locked up with ammunition elsewhere?
    It astounds me that gun owners leave their loaded weapons around for their children to find and use. I wonder how large the percentage of Americans is who believe the universe would just implode if they had to be responsible for their weapons and any other possession which could harm or kill a human being (vehicle, dog, etc.).

Since the article mentions allegations of abuse, this might not actually relate very much to the bigotry and might be a more simple case of an abusive father who taught h is son how to shoot a gun, and the kid decided an easy way to end the abuse was to kill his father. It’s really hard to say, since so little info is given, but that seems fairly plausible from the info given. Regardless, the child really needs therapy more than anything else (well, and a legal guardian, quite possibly).
